2012 Fluids change at 1650 miles
Spent the morning changing out the transmission, differential and engine oil. Pretty straightforward, no real gotchas to the job...
Changed the engine oil to Mobil 1, factory Nissan filter. At 5K miles, will change over the Redline oil. Didn't notice any difference in smoothness or oil temps to the factory fill. Changed the transmission fluid to Redline MT85. Immediately noticed MUCH smoother shifting. Less notchy shifting...slides into each gear noticeably easier. WELL worth the change. Changed the rear diff to Redline 75W90 gear oil. Drained the old oil and it was pretty black with a substantial amount of metallic particles on the drain plug. Probably a good thing to change it out as early as I did... |

1. Is there a how-to for the diff/trans fluid changes? (noob.) Didn't find in search
2. Is this a thing dealers would be OK doing? 3. Warranty worries? Thanks in advance

definitely...i have yet to be able to get my differential oil changed out, but i'm already noticing that after a little spirited driving i can smell the oil cooking in the differential, hard to describe but it kinda smells like when your oven has been on for a while and then you go to open it and you get that faint smell of all the oils from the food melting away inside the oven. Most likely going to be changing all the fluids when i get my refund check from taxes as well as putting on some eibach swaybars |

thats what i thought too, but after searching around the forums seems most people either preferred the whitelines or the eibachs, most didnt really have good things to say about the hotchkis unless they changed something with their swaybars within the last year or so. come to think of it, i forgot fontana nissan over here is an authorized whiteline swaybar dealer.

The fill plug on the trans just would not budge and I had already drained it. The fix involved pulling the tranny out so that I could use a breaker bar with a pipe extension to break it free. A less than one hour job turned into almost a day very quickly.

There is no difference in the diff's need for oil change; whether auto or manual transmission.
