Amen to that. The one time I took mine in so far, they actually put the paper down on the carpet...and then proceeded to scrape and track mud all up the lower door trim and foot well trim while getting into it.

Of course, to top all that off, they then tried to charge me for completing a TSB even though it was still in warranty. Suffice to say...the next time I absolutely have to go to a dealer will be to a different one.

That's crazy...... Even when I take the wife's car in for a $20 special (can't even do it that cheap myself) they cover seat and the floor mats even though they are winterized floor mats. This is coming from a Midas or Mr. Lube even! Crazy to think a dealership is skipping out on some of the basics......

Thats ridiculous!

Last time I took my car into the local dealer to plug a hole in my tire, i come back to pick it up and my synchro rev and tracs control are turned off (found that out by almost spinning my car when punching it to get out in front of traffic). Call back up there infuriated to have the manager tell me "they prolly turned it off to run diagnostics."

me: "a) why are u running diagnostics on my car to plug a tire? and b) you don't have to turn any of those systems off to run diagnostics! Might wanna tell ur techs if they're gonna go drive the sh!t outta my car to turn the tracs control back on when they are done!"

Him: long pause... "well... idk what the exact reasons are, but my techs would never abuse a car.

Me: "ya right." Hang up!

If I woulda spun my car into traffic that woulda been a nice fat lawsuit when I took them to court and had the ecu info pulled to show they turned it off. Needles to say, they don't touch my car any more.

#1: You should inform the manager that the tech you rode with is an idiot with absolutely no concept of Customer Service and a big mouth.

#2 They drove your car for 45 miles? Holy crap! I'd be all over their a$$.

You are taking your life in your hands running high-performance tires with a plug.

Doesn't traction control reset when the car is shut off? I do believe it does.

tracs and srm are constantly on in my car. tracs never resets to off position when a car is turned off. That would be dangerous

In a prefect world does sveryone replace their tires when they get a nail or something in them? Sure

However with rears on these running around $300 a piece, financially I wasn't willing to throw away a decent rear.

Motorcycle tires are the only thing I refuse to plug or patch.

I know... "something something $35,XXX car, something something small price to pay, etc... But I am saving up for a new set as soon as I can.

i think you misunderstood him, what he's saying is that when you turn the car off and then turn it back on again traction control resets to the "on" position automatically, so unless they left your car running when you went to go pick it up it would have automatically reset the traction control to "on" like all of our cars do when they are turned off and back on again. still annoying though to know that some dealers techs mess around with stuff in the cars like that though, thats why i only go to dealerships that have a see through window to the shop so i can see what they are doing to my car hehe :)

^^ ahh ok I get what you're saying. ok I misread 370zsteve's initial post. Ya That one confused me too. my car was pulled around to me when I got their by a tech, so idk what the deal was. All I kno is those are 2 things I never turn off. Could have been an honest mistake. I wouldn't gave said anything if it didn't almost get me in a wreck.

haha, yeah i can totally understand that, i couldn't believe how easy it was to kick the Z's tailend out without traction control on the first time i tried making a turn with throttle only halfway down. of course now that i've gotten used to the power of the engine i can do the same thing and do a controlled drift, hard to believe how easy it is to control this car sometimes once you get used to it.

I really doubt he would go do a track day or autox with a plug, but for street driving its really not that big of a deal.

Actually they seem to do fine. Even the ones you push in from the outside if done
correctly. I only plug tires if just a nail.

This is why I'm going to get UPRev. Put a Valet tune on that will limit the car to 3k RPM.
