Default Z's Engine died on freeway onramp

Something very strange happened last night in the Z. I was waiting for the light to turn green to turn onto a freeway on ramp, once it did turn green I proceeded as usual but then the strange thing happened, out of now where the the revs dropped past 1000rpm and VDC, Slip warning light, and Service Engine light lit up and the engine just stopped gave it gas but nothing no power whatsoever.

I did manage to pull over to the side of the road where I turned off the car and started it back up again and slowly drove it home, but now the service engine light is permanently lit. Anyone have anything like this happen to them before?

Nearly got hit by a Audi ripping it into my lane lol.

Thanks

Damn man... that is some scary stuff. Glad you are ok and didn't get into an accident. Yeah, have that thing towed to the dealer, I wouldn't chance taking it anywhere and maybe this time not being so lucky.

T_Tran - was it a long/tight right-hand onramp, and were you taking it hard, with 1/3rd or less of a tank of gas? If so, welcome to the ever-enjoyable fuel cut issue we run into at the track regularly.

It was a left turn. Its winter in Canada so the roads are slippery as hell so no did not take it hard. Gas tank was full as I filled the tank in the morning.

Will be for sure taking it to the dealer

I know a loose Gas cap / fuel vapor pressure can trigger the check engine light, but it wouldn't cause the engine to stop...

I'd bet a lot it is your crankshaft position sensor.

Hopefully it is something simple for them to diagnose/fix. Out of curiosity which dealer do you use? Definitely let us know what it was when you find out.

CEL should provide a great starting point.

Car is going in on Friday so we will have to see then. Service department said a engine failing can be due to a variety of reasons haha I found that very comforting.....

I usually go to Sherwood Nissan good service there.
