Default new project car

so, long story but my friends mom needs to get rid of some cars she has on her property and one of them is a 1987 200SX XE that i was thinking of buying as a project car. it's a notchback style body, but what i was wondering is how easy it would be to get parts for this car and how strong of an aftermarket it has if any? it looks like it has a strong enthusiast following from what i can tell, but i havent been able to dig up anything as far as parts or aftermarket goodies. Anyone have any opinions or information they can share it would be much appreciated, i know it's not Z related, but just wanted a second car to fix up so i could take it easy on my Z after i finish fixing it up. Thanks everyone for any input you can give me

thanks flip, i found that website while i was browsing around for info for it too....kinda surprised me how good you can make the S12's look with a little work and the fact that it's still RWD made it even more tempting to pick it up as a project car that would be a good track car also.

Just keep in mind the car is 25+ years old. Unless you do something dramatic, it's not going to be much faster than a new Malibu....

i was thinking along the lines of a vg30e swap which is what came in the short lived SE version of the S12 chassis at the end of its run which ended in 1987, but who knows i'll see what i have to work with when i get it and go from there
