Only thing holding me back from a Z is South America...
 

I am planning to get a 370z ASAP. finally found one within 300 miles with the options I need (PG, Sports, Touring, Navi, 7AT) but there is one catch.

I am going to be on a trip for about 6 weeks July - mid August in South America. Everyone I know is telling me...

1.) It is the dumbest time to buy a car if you are leaving so soon
2.) It is bad for the car to start breaking it in and then let it sit for such an extended period of time in a garage
3.) Wait for the 2010 for when you come back

My thoughts are I can enjoy the car for all of June and it will be sitting there in all its beauty when I hopefully return from S.A. alive. But if #2 is a real issue I may reconsider. Please let me know your thoughts (technical and opinions on the situation). Thanks!

IMO....Option 3 is the best way to win win!
I called Nissan and asked about oil cooler and there will be a stock
oil coolers on 2010 models, that already existing Z's doesn't have.
Also, there will be a S line body kits and nismo Z on 2010~!

Number 2 doesn't make much sense. That car is just sitting on the lot right now anyway. Nothing will happen if you don't drive it for 6 weeks.

Secondly, if you can wait till the 10 model, that would be awesome.

Buy it and let the old man drive it while you're gone to break it in. Or leave it with me and I'll drive it for you :tup:

Unless you will wait for the 2010 model then your trip to South America is not a reason, in my opinion, to put off buying the car you want now.

6 weeks is not that bad.

Get the car... put a few hundred miles on it - you will be fine... really wanna wait 6 months for a 6 week trip?

I think nissan will " sell " nissan oil cooler to 09 370z owners with bit more expensive price than aftermarket products. Just guess. :p
