I think OP is just upset that he's only put on 13,000 miles and normal wear and tear has reared its ugly head. With that said, here's the best advice for all your issues now and going forward, drive your car. As you can see its going to fall apart over time but things like seats and batteries can be replaced. You live in LA you have way more sunny days than I do in NY, drive your car at least that way you enjoyed it as its falling apart.

OP, 3 suggestions...1. get new batteries for your keys, 2. Go and buy a NEW mat for your car. 3. Start taking better care of your leather OR.. have the "damaged" part of the seat re-upholstered.

Its that easy.. things in life "falter", Fall apart, get damaged, fade, crack, get brittle, i'm sure you get my point.

I do "Custom" Audio Installation and I can tell you FIRST HAND that the upholstery shop that makes a lot of my "one-off" designs projects makes the MAJORITY of his business RESTORING worn out and damaged car and home furniture related items.

Restoration and Replacement inventory.... will become a BIG part of your life in your later years if like me, you like to keep things "appearing" as if they are new or well taken care of. The "well taken care of" part was put in there because no matter how "well" you take care of things, if you USE them, things are GOING to happen! Thats why restoration is one of MY best friends, lol!

Regarding the fob battery, why not just use THE FOBGINA!!! It's so much more fun and sexually suggestive. lol

Remember to use leather conditioner! Very important. Keeps the leather nice and soft and supple. Anything even remotely scratching the leather repeatedly over time will ruin it very quickly.

Also, since it sounds like the seats are starting to go, use UV protector/sealants on your plastic trim. The plastic in our Z's are like the plastics in any other car; they will crack from sunlight. Consider a windshield sun reflector to help slow sun damage.

OH, and whatever you do, be extremely careful about putting cleaner on the steering wheel! The last thing you want is having the Z's very responsive, meaty steering wheel slip out of your hands while you're taking a corner! I personally just use some distilled water and give it a good wipe down.

Since I have Brain and Heart problems, I don't sweat the small stuff.

Sure the paint is thin and has chips..

Sure I will have to replace the keyfob batteries, and the Car battery..

I don't care about the Oil Temp, or the steering lock, or any of the other issues.. Fuel Starvation ? I am more worried about a blood clot, haha..

But since I have been on my death bed, I have a better perspective on life..

If I continue to fall apart, it means either I get my chest cracked open and my ribs cut with a set of garden lopers, or I get my Skull sawed open..

So , as I am laughing while I am writing, I really don't sweat the car if it falls apart..

It is only money...And it is only a car.. If it doesn't meet my standards over time, no biggie..

Just thought I would give my .02 cents..

I have lived a hard, fun, rock and roll life...My Choice, but I am paying for it now...But I lived more than some people ever do..

Agreed. But you could have lived a lot without destroying yourself in the process man. I have. Sorry to hear about your health issues. I hope the best for you.

Cars have never been worth worrying about.

Hope things get better for you and you live well! We all have our moments and at times dont take good care of ourselves. That goes without saying. Glad you are still here and appreciate the Z!

It's not really a big deal because it's good to replace the floor mats every year or two anyways just to keep things fresh. It's better to wear them out than the actual carpeting on the floor!

With regard to the leather... the bolsters do wear quickly especially if you are a larger framed guy. The leather is soft and easily tears, so you've got to be careful, and they need regular care. I put 27k on my Z before I sold it and while the leather was showing wear, especially in the left thigh bolster, I never had any cracks or anything like that, nor did I feel like the leather was in danger of cracking or tearing in the high wear places. It just looked worn, which is normal, because it had 27k of daily use.
Damn you were 3k miles away from a true VQ break-in. How sad.
