Um, is that what you paid for the car? or did you mean the part and miss a decimal place?

I had mine go out about a month ago
2009 touring sport 42k mi
Part cost 500 another 200 at dealer to install
Not positive but dealer told me the keys needed reprogramming with new part so you can order the part separate like I did but dealer might still have to install or at least redo the keys...
They said my part was on back order too but I got it in like 3 days...

31000 miles when it failed.

2009 370Z with sport package bought Jan 15, 2009 (so it had to be among the first ones out)

I do not know which lock unit I had. Did not know what to look for at the time.

woah, i dont know the exact deal wat's going on with your car, but the part itself (even at the local stealership) is about $750 and labor 1hr to install (it physically only costs $500 shipped from nissan parts stores and about 15min to install). i doubt you need the entire control unit.

Total should be about 850 + tax.

A link was posted where you could buy it for I think $495 and it is a very easy install. A DIY has been posted in the other postings about this showing how easy it is to do yourself. Sorry for posting against what this is supposed to be about but if you are out of warranty it will cost you half of what the dealership will charge.

Sorry...I guess I should have responded to Jenny instead of your post. Your DYI is so easy there is no reason to pay the dealership anything unless you need to buy the part from them.

Just feel lucky you folks live in the USA. That part costs $1001.53 from Nissan here in Canada.

That, and the Canadian dollar is at par value now... wow!

Hey guys, I appreciate the information and everything but let's try to keep this thread to statistics only cool? There are a few threads out there with lots of discussion on this issue. Thanks!

By the way we already have 15 documented occurances of the failure in this thread alone. Nissan needs to see this
