UPDATE: I just heard from nissan this morning. I pleeded my case to them stating that I was unaware that this part is ONLY covered under the bumper to bumper warrenty. As my car has already passed the 36,000 mile warrenty coverage, it will cost me $1135,29 to get my car back!!! That is with a discount too. rev2 to rev4 re-programmed Steering lock module: $850 Labor: $300 Re-programming: $400 towing: $185 REMOVE YOUR FUSE BEFORE YOU END UP WITH THE SAME BILL!!!! |

see if you can revive your steering lock by tapping at it. then pull fuse or cut the brown wire.
or buy your steering lock from courtesyparts or similar online for about $500. follow DIY 'how to replace dreaded steering lock.' there's nothing to program. just remove, plug new one in, and start car. i know from experience as i replaced mine to RevC when i made the DIY from RevB. i will be cutting the wire and use revb when my revc dies. |

You guys who are being charged $800-$850 for the lock module plus $300-$400 labor are getting screwed about like the 53% of us that pay taxes are about to get screwed by Obama and the Democrats.
It's a $500 part and about a half hour in labor. The warranty on my car expired in September even though I only had about 26K miles on it. I installed the $50 harness in just a few minutes time before the lock had a chance to fail. If I had been stranded somewhere and had to pay towing fees plus outrageous repair charges I would have invented some new 12 letter words. |

As far as I can tell, the only "re-programming" required is clearing any DTCs that may have been set. But I have only been able to find the installation procedure for SLUs in GT-Rs.
All I can find in the 2009 370Z FSMs is "replace SLU" but no detailed procedure. Whether that's because the info is not there for security reasons or my mad search skillz have failed me, I dunno.
