:D np. yep. it's clumsy but easy to do. no brainer.

Just feel lucky you folks live in the USA. That part costs $1001.53 from Nissan here in Canada. :shakes head:

That, and the Canadian dollar is at par value now... wow!

Hey guys, I appreciate the information and everything but let's try to keep this thread to statistics only cool? There are a few threads out there with lots of discussion on this issue. Thanks! :tiphat:

By the way we already have 15 documented occurances of the failure in this thread alone. Nissan needs to see this

anthonyy 01-27-2012 12:07 PM

^ agreed. great thread

370guy 01-27-2012 12:10 PM

Got Mine a week ago (failure that is) 2009 with 27,000 miles revision B. Part has been back ordered for over a month already. Not ETA on when it'll be available either. Also courtesy parts claims to have them but when I called the do not have any in stock.

The hidden cost of health care perhaps.

How has a 30%+ increase in CAN$ effected y'all. Do you actually have more purchasing power? In Bellingham Washington Canadians are all over the place buying US goods.

6MT 01-27-2012 02:08 PM

No, we've been getting ripped off like this for 40 years.

Pathetic.

Azroadster 01-27-2012 03:02 PM

When the dealer replaced my steering lock they did not have to reprogram my keys. Don't let em charge you for that. The steering lock has nothing to do with the key programming.

AZ

Yeap, people need to report the problem to Nissan and all the emails that have been posted.

I have written to all of them. their reply is "this is the first time we hear about that problem" or Nissan of NA telling me they are making a file because they don't have enough comp.laints to issue a recall or TSB.

cossie1600 01-27-2012 07:14 PM

go straight to NHTSB. you have a better chance of seeing god than getting nissan to do the right thing

i ordered the revD last friday and got an eta of yesterday...then received a call from nissan this morning saying that the part is on its way from japan and will be in north carolina on the 26th of february and then shipped to cali (puente hills nissan) by march..

i was hoping to be proactive and switch out my revA before it fails cuz my z is daily driven

just fyi: #48700-JF00D
list price: $718.94
discounted price: $546.39 +tax

kenchan 02-01-2012 04:19 PM

$546 is not bad at all. that's quite a long lead-time to ETA. :(

i think baer got them cheaper but he has hook ups maybe?

Just had to post this. this is some major BS....
nissan should step up..... there should be a total recall...
i feel like im driving a ticking time bomb.
not if but when....
and it will always happen at the worst time..........

Baer383 02-01-2012 07:15 PM

The low down that I got from my Nissan guy is that unofficially Nissan has placed these steering locks on restricted order to hold on to the remaining number they have and are waiting for yours to fail then you take it to the dealer they determine that the steering lock is the cause then they send all the info to Nissan and when Nissan gives the dealer approval then Nissan will release the part to your dealer.

The only way my Nissan guy could get me mine is I had to give him my Vin#,name, year, make, model of car then he called me back an hour later b/c he had to get approval from Nissan before he could sell it to me.

I wish I could remember the exact website, but the federal Site for recalls has a form we can fill out to complain about issues. If enough of us do it (especially with the GT-R recall) we could force Nissan to do the right thing.

kenchan 02-01-2012 08:44 PM

370zsteve- yep, it's on the bottom of my DIY. Mike posted up for us.

onzedge 02-02-2012 09:50 AM

I got a call this morning from my Nissan dealer telling me the part has arrived. I am waiting until Monday to take her in for the repair because Mondays are when the paintless dent guy is in and I am getting that annoying little dimple in my roof removed at the same time.

They also confirmed that the mechanism is Rev D.
