I have already been through this. When my under-warranty 370Z was towed into Reed Nissan, probably the worst dealership I have ever dealt with, they told me it would take a week to look at it because I had no appointment.
That's right, car behind me on a flatbed and they get irritated because I didn't schedule the complete failure of the car. I went home, called Nissans consumer affairs. They acted appalled and I believe they were, a regional manager contacted Reed Nissan and the car was looked at immediately. Took two days to get the part though. I had hoped to keep this car for a while, but can't imagine the nightmare of dealing with this intelligent key garbage for 10-12 years. Killing and re-cranking your car miles from home, like at a gas station or rest stop, shouldn't make your stomach turn with dread. I'd pay $1000 or more for a product that bypasses all of this crap and allows me to crank my car with a normal key. Anything that would get rid of this worthless "intelligent" system for good.

Kenchan spells it out pretty clearly in his DIY linked above.
