I don't think any track supplies in a trailer and a set of tires will overload the car. |
^ you might also be able to run without a rear hatch window, in which case you could probably squeeze three back there and one in passenger seat. If you do this, would be easiest if you just purchase a second hatch that you can swap before/after events. No good for inclement weather of course but hey.
Another possibility is to build a bracket so the hatch can be held open 2 feet with good stability on your way to/from the track. If you go the bike rack route, you'll want to see if that flies with your DE host... |

I am already this deep into hacking my car up, might as well finish the job with an ugly trailer http://img807.imageshack.us/img807/9210/dscf2368.jpg Shot at 2011-08-09 http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/7413/dsc5398g.jpg Shot at 2012-01-09 If I want to turn the trailer into a scooter carrier, I need to add another plywood so it is long enough to carry it. I really hope I don't bottom out going up my driveway and I can back the trailer into my garage up an incline |
here's a pic of some other guy tying down a small dirt bike to a similar cart... good idea to have a channel for the tires to help stablize it... I think instead of tying down the bike to the front corners, he could have used the space better (and in this case you prob have a shorter cart) by building a cross bar with tie down points further forward towards the hitch... will create a longer angle and interfere less with other gear on the cart... also the front is better tied down to the handle bars vs how he has it wrapped around... handle bar tied down = more lateral stability...

Nice! I can't recall but is the fog light cutout in the bumper fascia large enough for a hitch to pass through or is some trimming required? I keep mulling about this idea and whether I can rig up a receiver for both a hitch and the light I have mounted.
|
by the way, as you probably know if you start welding more weight on the front to hold down the scooter, you're going to need to shift other weight to the back... otherwise you'll end up with too much load on the hitch

My old 280zx had a hitch. Looks stupid but nothing blasphemous about it

Yeah, the trailer is built with 3 tires in the back in mind (150lbs+). If I get a Scooter, I will try to mount it as far back as I can. |

I love the fact you will not be limited in your life. I used to go hunting in my 300ZX. I could park in a camp site that was none too rugged and camp and hunt. With your trailer you can be gone for weeks. Finish it for sure. |
[QUOTE=cossie1600;1499432]I better start working on my forearm to lift 60lbs of tire/wheel above the door minimum of three times.

Make sure the bolts stay tight... if they get loose and vibrate, the holes in the aluminum will distort very quickly. Hopefully you used lock washers and lock-tight |

Wait..................... I may be older than you! :ughdance: Ugh, I'm not sure if "baller status" is a good thing or not either. :ugh2: Maybe it's time for bingo in the rec room; they are serving tapioca pudding and showing a movie. Gotta go. |
