off topic question here

Those guys with 638 HP ZR1s and 600 HP RWD Porsches etc. Don't they ever get worried that they'll lose control and crash when basically going from 0 - 100 or whatever?

You see it in street races all the time with xxx hp supras, vettes etc. racing, is it common to lose control going full throttle in a straight line? Does it matter more about what kind of tires, lsd etc.? ty

There's a bunch of different factors that can cause a car to lose control in a straight line. Ultimately it comes down to the driver to keep the car going in its intended path, but yes, any RWD car capable of losing drive wheel traction can wreck in a straight line. If you encounter some road irregularity that upsets the car or simply fall behind in your steering you can crash regardless of whether you're headed straight, turning, etc.

It's not just the super high power cars either... the 370Z has enough power to lose control in a straight line if the driver doesn't know what he's doing.

That scares the **** out of me. I always for some reason see videos of Carrera GTs getting sideways real easily because of all that power.

I run with VDC and ABS off 100% of the time. I have OS Giken LSD, 285 rears and 275 fronts and if I punch it out of a slow turn the car hops out but its completely controlable. Very much a drift car. We had a Porsche club event and I was hanging rear out 50 years at a time. 370Z is one of my favorite drift cars. Its so easy to drift a monkey could drift it.

You know how it is with most drivers, though. Don't say stuff like that... you'll encourage someone to go out and kill themselves!

That's why I love my OSG. So much traction and so perdictable. I'm thinking of going to 265 fronts next time around. On 255 now.
