It really feels like I am drifting since I have to hold my steering wheel to the opposite direction of the car moving.

Wait, have I just learned drifting without knowing? lol.

Need practice and practice.

You can't learn to drive from a book...but...pick up Secrets of Solo Racing by Henry Watts. The book covers everything from “What is an apex?” to proper lines through various types of corners and the physics behind it all.

Even worse if it was front wheel drive. Uncontrollable torque steer would occur and most likely you'll end up in a wreck. Lol

At least he'd be able to see where he was going. It's much easier for a newb to get himself killed in a RWD car in a situation like this. Lots of people don't understand the dynamic when you put together RWD, a loss of drive wheel traction, and a corner.

yea, I was informed to practice at an open space with no other cars, people, or obstacles, and I pulled a couple of runs.
It was worth a try and loved the feeling.
I will never attempt a try at a public road even if I become natural doing it.

Get a rwd beater, find an icy parking lot, and let the games begin. You can now power slide at low speeds. Problem solved.

You might have one more step. Go way up north.

Then you're too hot into the corner. It's not your acceleration causing it, it's your entry speed and most likely you're on the brakes with the wheel turned. In too hot>panic>brake while turning>unbalanced car>oversteer.

Yup, I was going into corners too fast, didn't get enough straight line brake in and lost it while braking/turning a few times. Slow in, fats out, and do your braking straight are good pieces of advice I will remember next track day.

Then again, a lot of people don't even know whether their car is front or rear wheel drive to begin with. Like when I saw a guy putting snow chains on the rear wheels of his Corolla...
