Well they don't compare in performance, the Z is way ahead.

If u are just looking for a sporty car and looking more at cost, get the BRZ.

If u actually care about the Z heritage, want 332 hp, more exclusivity, you would pick the Z without question.

BRZ: With 200 horses, it delivers you from A to B with some fun.

370Z: With 330 horses, you drive from A to B with TONS OF FUN!!!

Let alone you don't know you are driving a Toyota or Subaru, or Suyota, or Tobaru, Tomato maybe?

It's good to have options for people. For me, I like the Z's heritage and how the 370 is a throw back to the 240.

This is not a valid comparison, they are two different price points and target markets.

Honestly...the BRZ probably makes a better track car.

I'm not talking about performance, but the ability to hold an extra set of wheels. haha

the BRZ/FRS is a great car for the community, its a platform built for enthusiasts to enjoy on track with minimal fuss. it will be a great car to learn in with it low torque output and light weight, yet will still be engaging with its revvy nature and balanced handling dynamic. but the fact of the matter is, its not the same class of car as a 370, apples and oranges.

the 370 chassis and suspension geometry is much further ahead, the 370 resembles a GTR platform more than anything with its double wish bone front suspension made with aluminum components, and its very good rear suspension geometry that has great corner exit grip and camber gain. Also the 370 can fit the rubber under stock body that can allow it to be a true mechanical grip monster on top of the great suspension design.

the BRZ/FRS chassis is basically a rwd impreza/wrx, with stamped steel suspension components and arms, strut front suspension, and a rear multilink that has a significant amount of anti squat, which with close to stock NA power isnt going to be a big deal, but when people start to add power with turbocharging(which you know will happen) the car is going to struggle with corner exit traction because of its design. to further add to this issue, the car does not fit wide rubber without body modification.

I've seen a couple different designs with the BRZ and I don't mind it. It's somewhat light-weight, and with different tail lights and some lowering springs it'll look decent, but it really needs a turbo charged engine with about 270HP to keep with the 370Z given it's weight.

As a consumer you'll have to weigh each pro and con and figure what really suits you best. If you'll looking for something with a $25k price point then the BRZ will have a full warranty, until you mod it, and the Z will be out of a warranty for the most part. Besides, I always like to be the first person to fart in my car so I would lean towards the BRZ.

You know the aftermarket will be huge with those cars and I'm guessing it'll be larger than the Z aftermarket. Some companies like Cobb even gave up on us. The BRZ is priced for the younger generation and I bet parts will be cheaper too.

I am very happy with my 370Z and I would never trade it for a BRZ but so many people are trashing the car already. Competition is healthy, come on people. Hopefully these Scion TC's will stop being produced because they're taking over. I see 3 on every corner.

Dsport test drove the FR-S and nearly crashed it. In a side article they said subaru already has a 270hp engine ready to go but they haven't said ye or ne on that powerplant. Dsport speculated if in fact they do bring it out? It will be in two years or so???

Even with the 270hp, it's still not quite enough to fall into the 300+ 'standard' nowadays, unless, the chassis is extremely well tuned.

I am wondering, if Toyota/Subaru want to make a sports couple, why couldn't they do it 'properly', I mean at least with more horses that can compete with the V6 coupes out there, since there is not too many choices in that category.

Well again, kinda comparing apples to oranges. The Z is approx a 3300lb vehicle. At its barest, 3232Lbs.
The subaru BRZ is at 2700 approx lbs. Which probably puts the Z and turbo brz in the same hp to weight ratio. Not to mention FI is a much more valid modifier.

I mean I'm not even going to pass any judgement till the turbo is on a track and competing. The BRZ seems like a pretty good pkg for what it is.
