Removed the rear hatch weight and added an LED controller for the high mount stop. The controller was about $30, removing the weight- free!

I'm still confused why your 2012 had a weight in the hatch and my 2011 did not I have sport, non-touring...

Not sure! I also don't know why my Nismo would have the weight having the giant spoiler on the back which already helps close it!

I assume since it's a Nismo it's one of the dampeners (or dampers, whichever term you prefer). There's a diagram on here showing where they all are.
