Price check on labor for mod install
Want opinions for labor cost to install the following mods:
Stillen Gen 3s Stillen front/rear sways FI test pipes FI cat back exhaust Local performance shop says 450 for everything. Labor time 5.5 hrs. Sound reasonable? I can do all but test pipes but will take me slot longer probably!

yah 80-90/hr is reasonable i think. but intakes should take a shop no more than 1hr, front/rear swaybars no more than 45min total . pipes and exhaust 2hrs max.
total 3.5hrs-4hrs maybe? |

I highly doubt even a shop could get the intakes done in 1hr unless they have 2-3 guys on it.. pulling the bumper, cutting, ect takes a while if they are careful which they should be..

Yeah, I would estimate 5-6 hours. $75-$80 an hour is reasonable.

Listen to SPOHN. And tell them you want the OEM stuff back. Those cats are worth money and you don't want to have to buy new ones when you sell the car. IF they don't hack them up getting them off.

Thanks for the words of encouragement ... It was a sunny weekend so I did install the intakes, frothy and rear sways, test pipes and cat back. I spent about $120 in parts and saved 330 in labor. I will argue that the cats are a huge pain in the *** to remove. With that being said once you remove them changing things out is easy. I made sure to replace the demon bolt with a quality aftermarket one that I can get off easier without damaging it.
This forum is awesome. I got lots of good ideas on the cat install. Lots of pb blaster, 1/2" impact six point socket, three ten inch extensions and a huge breaker bar (can get all at harbor freight for 50 total) did the trick.

good job, kevin. nothing like doing your own mods.
and if you have one of those hydraulics with the removeable extension handle, you can use that extension over your breaker as a cheater bar extension. |
