Are people holding onto their Zs?
does it seem like people are holding on to their Z's longer than normal.
it seems like every used car lot or even new dealerships have known for sell. while you can find 1 and 2 year old chargers, camaro and mustangs everywhere for sale used. any opinions on this . not trying to stir the pot just interested if the other owners grew tired of their cars. |

Carmax has a few...

There aren't that many 370s around so you'll see fewer on used lots than other makes. I've only seen a handful over the past year sitting on used car lots.
|
i agree, ive seen in the 2 dealerships ive been to recently with my brother looking for a new car for him, saw six 350z's but no 370s.. BUT the sales person did ask me " so uh... you wanna trade that in? we'll gladly take it!!!" looking at my 370
i looked at him with a disgusted look on my face like "really? you just asked me that?" |
Lucky to find minet
I found 2 370Z's at a local dealer (Rochester, NY) in the month of December, 2011. One was a Base white Z with MT, and the other was a Base red Z with AT and Sports Package. I bought the red Z of course. I figured that if I waited to look for a Z in the spring, I might not find the same car, because of more competition and all ... so I bought my Z. Both drove nicely. I wonder whether the white Z is still in the lot. Probably not, although my Z was at the dealer for about 6 months according to the car facts; the car was waiting for me. :D

I agree with with all comments thus far. There are literally next to no used 370s available. It is a curious conundrum, isn't it? :)

Well, I can tell you that finding mine was a serious PIA. None of the dealers down here had a black roadster. Specifically, one with ALL the options I wanted. I did find a red one on a showroom floor but that was it. Eventually, I ended up buying one from Virginia! All the Nissan dealership told me that I could order one but it could take up 4-6 months to get it! Forget that! There are a few roadsters on....ahem, (sorry m4a1mustang) EBAY...not that i would buy it from there or anything, but to be frank, the sellers weren't really reputable. I think if you buy a car of this caliber, you're better off waiting for it instead of settling on a color or model you aren't happy with. I did that when I bought my G37. I liked the black one but they didn't have it so I settled on a white one. Everyone thought it was my wife's car!!! I traded that one in REAL quick! The bottom line...
I won't be trading this one in for a LONG time. My 280zx was the only car I kept from the time I got married to the time that it...sniff...passed away. I plan on doing the same thing with my 370z. Sorry for the rant guys, just really passionate about this car! |
The no used consensus rings true in FL as well. I was looking around for a bit on used ones, but the few they had were extremely high mileage 1-2 year old ones, and not in the packages I wanted. Might I also add that the used car people wanted almost the same price as a new 2012 one, save 2 or so grand. Granted, this car is by no means a high volume car.

Demand is kind of low, especially for an increasingly conpetative segment, so dealers tend to have a low inventory to begin with. I personally plan to hold on to the Z for a while and a part of me is kind of glad very few are around. Even back in 09 though, finding the one I wanted was a chore. In the end, I compromised and got a touring without the sports package and got the color I wanted.

I do like how 370z are pretty rare, only seen 3-4 in my area all year. One nismo, omg i was so jealous when i saw him. lol
|
It is probably due to the fact the the amount of 370z sold is far less than the 350/mustang/camaro/etc...

There are two used ones sitting at the Nissan lot in my town and they have been there for over 2 months now. :icon17:
|
I looked for my car used for nearly 6 months and finally bought new.

A couple used 370Zs at my local dealer. Been sitting a while. I'm thinking about trading mine in for a 6MT or Mustang. Yeah, bored with life lol

New Z is well known for low in sales figure, so how will it has a lot for sale as used????
|
Last month when I was looking to buy a car. One local dealer had a white '12 sport. He wasn't moving down on price when I ask him. The dealer where I bought my used '11 Nismo, also had a '12 roadster, and a '12 sport. I asked about ordering a new '12 Nismo. The salesman said they can't order until Mar. and that the Nismo wouldn't be in until June if I was lucky. so I asked him about the used '11 Nismo they had. Said they just got it in on a trade. Asking $37,000 for it. I said $35,000, no trade, cash. They jumped on it. So now I have an '11 Nismo with 7,000 miles on it. Looking around in my area. I have only found 1 roadster, 3 sport/tours, and 3 sports. All '12's. No Nismo's and no used ones. Feel I was lucky to get mine.

i think it depends where you are. up north, if they get traded in or unsold in fall, they probably will sit there until spring, since people don't usually by sports cars in the middle of winter

Anyway, if one stumbles along in a reasonable color (I don't want another white car, and I am not a fan of Nissan's blue), and I don't want the grey/silver interior because it would stain to hell FAST! I bet, then I will do the deal if I can either drive to get the car, or get my dealer to dealer-trade (my dealer is willing). *Frustration*. Oh, and my dealer has confided that they cannot even order a 370Z. They tried twice. No-go. Anyway, I guess I will have to go sulk and drive my Z06 in the mean-time :driving: |
I lucked out with mine. I wanted a used touring w/ sport and nav, looked online and found one within 200 miles of me. Luckily it was at Autobarn Nissan about 35 minutes away. Really wanted a silver one, but the pearl white still looks fantastic.
|
my 2010 was fully loaded 6spd black/persimmon and has been sitting on a dealer lot in NJ since october 1st. i think region has a lot to do with it. that would have been snatched up fast if it was in the south.

Now let's say you get a blue or black cherry? You will find it lacks a sport package or it doesn't have nav or is a base sport when you want touring. Or it has nav when you don't want one. Its a nissan money making scheme. That's why in the end I feel the touring isn't worth the money. My advice would be. When and if Mr. Nash jumps back on here with the discount offer around aprilish-may? Jump on it and grab hopefully find your model. Its the 2 months in the year when there are a lot of Z's on lots. Its like its the only time nissan even tries to sell a Z. I've been noticing this seasonal pattern and I'm beginning to think nissan is actually forcing there cars to be low volume. The things they do truly are in the opposite of trying to sell this car. They truly have a "sell it the way we give it or step attitude." It might be for the reason of selling low numbers? |
Import, PM me what the combination you want on your Z again? Let me talk to my guy for you real quick and see what he can do. Remember I'm in DFW Tx. So if you're good with that? Lemme know.

I would take black and consider strongly red or silver. I haven't owned a black car in a year and a half. I will say, though, that white is harder to keep clean than black. Argue all you want. |

Where? Would they do a dealer trade? I'm not driving 2000 miles. Also, it's not listed on their website. They do have a black one and a white one, though, which is why I ask about dealer trade. |

i'll be keeping mine for a while... at least 6-7yrs. maybe longer. i donno. it would really depend on how much time i will have to motor this car.
i really like the Z, as much as i like my 8yr old G35C (original owner). :) |
