Lemon?

Got my Z in march 2011, ever since the check engine light comes on pretty much for no reason. I literally took the car to the dealership more then 7 times. And they cant not figure out why it's doing that. The car is pulling a Multiple cyclinder misfire code. But the car isn't actually doing that. So I take it to the dealership and they really dont know but the car is still under warranty. but its getting close to being out of warranty and they haven't figured it out yet. Last they had my car in for a week, and had a Nissan engineer working on the car. they said they changed my ECM, but engine light still came on after that. frustrated. dont know what to do!?!?????

Hmmmm. Prior to putting any mods on my car I was getting a check engine light throwing a random misfire code. The day I had it scheduled to go into the dealership I was driving there and the light went off like a mile from the place. I wanted to have it checked out before I started modding the car but couldnt wait any longer for it to show up again. Ended up doin my mods, which included ECU tune via UpRev and never saw the code again. Im interested as to what was causing this myself.

Check the Lemon Laws of your State because every one is different. Some times it takes a Lawyer to deal with the situation too. GL

How do you know that it isn't misfiring? You don't necessarily feel a misfire.

jruiz370z 01-02-2012 04:07 PM

yea i'm not sure, they cant figure it out. I mean had a multiple cyclinder misfire happen in my 350z and you can definately tell. This engine light only comes on at start up. never as i'm driving.

thanks

Because they have checked all the cyclinders and supposely have ran tests on the injectors and what not. Dealership is saying the car isn't misfiring. Nissan engineer came out and put a new ECM. Still came on.

Did they change the plugs or coil packs?

Do you have another dealership you can stop by and have them look it over?

Call Nissan north america (nna corporate), get them to open a claim, (get the ref # and name of person you spoke to), this way, if you're warrantee expires while it's still getting resolved, you won't be on the hook for it.

Also, like others said, keep all your documentation and start looking into the possibility of lemon lawing the car if you can't get it fixed.
