Mine was a leftover, demo with some miles... but sold as new, with no reported damage.

Wow what a great outcome. I say this but I know you went through a lot in the repair stage. I just got done taking my car back and forth for the ECM, slave cylinder, master cylinder, and hard pipe. All got replaced and my car sounds and feels good again.

A while ago a dealer here was convicted of selling Hondas that had been declared totally worthless after being caught in a flood somewhere else in the country. One woman had repeated problems and they actually refused to help her. That triggered a trip to the Attorney Generals office and they investigated and found hundreds of flood damaged cars had been sold. The dealership was closed. And this was large and seemingly reputable dealership.

Many years back, a friend of mine bought a car from a dealer with the odometer reading 25K. He was looking for the car manual and could not find it. he happened to check in the seat and found a receipt for work done by the previous owner and so he called him asking if he knew about the manual. The guy said No but the two started talking and he asked the guy why he sold the car with only 25K on it.,.the guy was surprised and said the car had 65K on it when he gave it to the dealer..
My friend went to the dealer and threatened to go to the dealer commission. The dealer paid him the difference but he should have gone to the commission and they would have fined the dealer and made him pay my friend triple damages.

You really have to watch who you deal with...

Even Carfax isn't fool-proof. Some cars have virtually no history Carfax can pull. It can give you a positive indicator if there's lots of service records, but it can't give you a reliable indicator that nothing bad ever happened. It's not that hard to have a wreck and get it fixed and keep the entire thing off the books (both the wreck and the repair).

I am wondering what carfax will say about my car when I go to sell it..

I was in an accident..I opened the door while parked at the donut shop on the way to the gym and someone with a BMW pulled in beside me as I was opening the door and hit his door on the edge of my door. The damage was zero to my car but his got a small bump and a scratch on his. Cost $350 to fix. It was reported to the insurance company as a precaution and they said I was to blame.

Now I wonder how this will look on car fax. Is an accident just labeled as an accident with no details? I mean a ding on a door has got to be different from being hit by an Amtrack train..but will carfax make it clear what happened or just say "yes this car was involved in an accident.?"

Kept forgetting to give updates.

Nissan ended up only paying a payment as a "kind gesture" since it was a dealer issue (which is was). They did however contact the dealer and start things there.
I went to the dealer about a month ago.. and after about 2 hours of talking/explaining/negotiating... they agreed to do what I asked.

They took my 2009 370Z, which I owed $27,000 on. And they "gave" me a 2012 370 Touring Sport 6MT. Basically everything that my 2009 had. There were no Montery Blues anywhere around... so I ended up going with Gun Metallic.

They basically swapped out my loans. They took care of my 2009 and sold me the 2012 (MSRP $42,900) for $25,000 plus taxes and whichever.. which equaled to exactly what I owed on my 2009.

I could have gotten more out of going to a lawyer like many suggested... but as I told the dealer, I figured this would be the easiest solution for all involved. They eventually agreed. The entire process was pretty painless... just waiting for the the from out of state.

Everyone actually treated me very well. Glad it's over.
Maybe the dealer and the big shots at Nissan were reading this post and decided to act..
