Same with almost every other sports car there. Most are in the red or dark red. For some bizzare reason coupes seem to do worse than convertibles of the same car. And FWIW based on those stats, the miata is the safest sports car to buy
"Loss results are stated in relative terms (100 represents the average result for all vehicles in each loss coverage category). Colors indicate results in relation to the average for all vehicles:"

The average is 100.

The average is determined by all of the cars in each class. If you look at the right side of the website, it shows you different classes.

In this case, 100 is the average for "Sports Models." So this would imply that the 370Z is 88% above average in terms of collision, but 12% below average in property damage.

It's simple, really.

Also, you keep dancing around the other point I keep making...

that can't be right. unless it's the average for ALL sports models, not just the midsize. For collision average for midsize sports cars, it comes out to 145. Yet mustang with 137 and rx 8 with 134 are classified as much worse than average?

And the categories don't make any sense either. Mitsu eclipse in the same class as corvette zr1? And funny how the m3 is in the "luxury" section and not in the sports section. And audi r8 is considered "large" but the GT-R is "midsize"

Did I not just say it's an average for all sports models?

Regarding classification... all we have to go by is how the IIHS classifies the vehicles... it's complete enough to get an idea of relative accident rates.

And it's the point you keep avoiding.

those stats are pretty much all we have to work with. Insurance companies sure as hell won't be publishing their numbers.

The DOT can't get out of its own way... not sure if I'd want data from them.

I dont get it. I never drive with VDC on except in rain or heavy mist. the 370Z drives way better at the limit then my mustang every did. It handles very well. Large amounts of grip. feels safer then a vette. So i say. Go take advanced driving and racing classes

Some people can drive, some people can't.

Are 350Z drivers more prone to texting and driving than other vehicle owners?
