Don't get hit! Some parts are scarce...
Looks like my accident repair is going to take some time. You may recall, the car was 5 days old on April 22nd when hit (front and rear). Car is not yet in the shop due to Allstate's dragging their feet, and my shops schedule. Just heard that the order for the rear impact gaurd rail extension is on Back-order til July...Argh. We're going ahead with the cosmetics and will bring it back for the internal parts if necessary. I'm really tired of it looking like this...

Texting while driving is so stupid, yet I see people do it all the time.
Here a subway train driver (trolley car) was texting while driving and rear ended another trolley car injuring 49 people. A year earlier the same thing happened and the driver was killed. Of course everyone knows about the CA train crash that killed 25 people. It's just as bad on the road, unfortunately it will take lots of people needlessly dying before anything is done about it. |

My wife had broken the left air dam on the car, and it took 5 weeks to get to me, and this was back in march. I think the back order thing has been going on for a very long while.

It is simply getting worse in California. As is the new gig of speaking on the phone with flip phones and drivers trying to hide them in their hand while holding them to their ear and leaning against a window or their elbow as though they are not there. Bad.
Regarding the parts...I see less and less inventory being held by dealers. Everything is becoming order on an as "needed basis" except regular stocking items.

Texting is even worse than talking on a cellphone. I sheepishly admit to doing both occasionally when I really need to, but the whole time I'm very aware of how stupid I'm being, and I only do it in lower-risk driving situations, and give myself more buffer room on all sides, and watch the road like a hawk when I'm doing it. It's nerve-wracking, and I dislike doing it when I do.
I'd say about 70% of the time that I get pissed off at some driver for totally ignoring traffic around them (you know, like those 'island' guys who are the one car going 20mph slower than the rest of traffic, or the dude clogging up the fast lane at 5 under the limit, etc), when I look at the driver, they're doing something with a phone and completely ignorant of the situation they're causing. |

I have noticed it's mostly girls that text and drive. Guys, not so much. About a month ago, this girl almost crashed into me since she was too busy texting and didn't see that I was making a right turn.
This happened on April 30th YouTube - Anderson Cooper & The Bus Driver Texting - Then Crashing
