I just hate when people call Nismo, Nizmo. Its Neice-mo not nizz-mo. Honestly, I don't think it sounds bad. I think TRD is pretty dumb. It sounds like an abbreviation. For turd. Lol.

BMW is quite smart on this, Motorsport, 'M'.
Such a common word, motorsport, and they make the letter 'M' become such famous in the auto industrial. |

Meh, I think the 370Z could benefit from:
More extensive use of SMC to lower weight and reduce production costs. Slightly longer wheel-base with a bit less overhang, but over-all longer body by about 2-3" for down-force and visual appeal. A slightly wider track width to match. VQ37 with some refinements aimed at NVH reduction and DI base model. VLSD used. @360bhp A "small" displacement V8 with an oversquare design (think current BMW M3) utilizing DI technology and a Torsen diff on the Sport model for another $4500-5500 @ 400bhp, 4.0L, 8K redline, 290-320tq NISMO package would cost roughly $10K more than Sport and include in addition to the Sport model, a TASTEFUL carbon-fiber track-oriented kit aimed at creating useful downforce, a'la BOSS/ZR1/Z07 instead of the ugly BS it has now, MRC suspension such as the CTS-V and Z07/ZR1 and the Euro/italian cars that rented it from GM. Ceramic rotors. Torsen diff. geared more aggressively. Leather seats would be optional. R-compound tires optional. Freer flowing exhaust, possibly throttle-sensitive as in the Z06/ZR1, 415bhp, 300-330tq. This would cover a PROPER model line-up for the 400Z (4.0 V8 in all but base) and give buyers the option to have the V6 model in the low 30's, a competative V8 model in the high 30's/low 40's, and NISMO owners would truly own a track-oriented car capable of performing well on a track, right out of the box--or put the MRC in "Touring" mode and enjoy on the street for high 40's/low to mid 50's depending on how optioned. It is very do-able at the price-ranges discussed, and a great idea, and pissing in the wind because it will never happen but was fun to type! It would become a competitor for: the base mustang/camaro/Genesis/Cayman/Boxter etc. The 911, base C6/C7 (if LS3 used), mustang GT, Camaro SS, M3 etc. The Z06, 911 GT3, Cobra, Z28 (some would out-shine it in the straights due to the @400bhp), but on certain tracks it would dominate.) Plus, I can drive it like I own it, and have good confidence I'm not going to piss away going-out-to-dinner money on over-priced maintenance bills.

Base model needs to step up the game.
Lower seat rails, thinner head liner, thinner seat cushion (for the tall guys), 380-400hp, brembos, oil cooler, flat undertray, less weight. That is all very easily changed. Last edited by Supergoji; 12-27-2011 at 03:29 AM. |
