why no supercharger whine

ok i asked this on another thread, but i didnt wanna thread jack so here is a new one. why is there a big push in the industry to have quieter superchargers? call me simple stupid but if i saw an add for a supercharger kit that read "screamin loud when u get on it" i would wanna buy that instantly. i mean listen to kenne bells on cobras. if that sound doesnt get u goin then nothin will. and i kno that we dont work off a roots style blower on the z's, but my buddy had a vortech on his mustang and that thing made a pretty sweet whine.

lets get the blower sound back!

(ranting at the risk of sounding like a muscle car loving redneck)

Maybe new technology or the desire to have the car with a SC "sleeper"....

if you can watch "snake bite cobra" on youtube and not want a supercharger whine then you need to get your pulse checked.

*cough cough* vendors chime in at any time

im all for the supercharger whine, but you have to understand that not everybody wants to be loud. there are those who choose to be discrete.

if you think that everybody wants to be just like you or have the same interests as you, then you need to get your pulse checked. :tiphat:

I have a GTM stage 1 SC and you can hear the whine, not nearly as loud as the Cobra which I have ridden in but it is there.

edub370 12-21-2011 12:52 PM

i thought gtm was going for the super stealthy quiet thing?

The system is much quieter than the American V8 SC kits, but it is definitely not silent.
It all depends on what your level of 'loud' is really, I like the V8 SC sound but the GTM kit is a nice blend of whine, BPV and exhaust.

edub370 12-21-2011 12:59 PM

true. i guess we really cant get that loud whine without going to a roots style blower (old stillen 350z kits)

Dreamer, I haven't been following the drama lately. How is the Stage 1 GTM holding up for you? Any issues?

Im with u Bromontana! On the Maxima, the V2 is just so much more "tame" in a sense compared the the V1. I have buddies that run the V1s and if in a parking lot, everyone.. i mean everyone thinks there is some sort of big rig coming! :P With the V2, yes it sounds great still, but it is far less noisy. Guess thats the price for more efficient performance maybe?! :happydance:
