if clutch work you need to practice some more and apply a tad of throttle when engaging 2nd while the fly wheel is spinning down. i mentioned this several times to newbs on MT's but it is like catching a ball or water balloon you toss up in the air.

you match speed with your arms/hands when you grab it, right? it's the same prinicple with the flywheel.
Not clutch work. At first I thought it was I as letting the clutch out too soon, but after working it and carefully doing shifting/clutch it was still jerky.

Yeah, but a lot of people have reported some extra lateral movement and some slack at the top of travel with nothing at all. I would rather fix the problem with the fewest side effects.

i see. the colder temps does make the tranny pretty stiff at times.

adding a weighted knob can help.

An alternative solution also appears to be in the works:

I like the stock clutch spring / feeling
That's why I decided to buy the car... because of the way it drove

im not a big fan of the Z's clutch feel but ive gotten use to it.

for me though it's not so much the clutch action, it's the latency in the throttle input that throws me off since my G's throttle is very responsive.

I tried this technique but found that the ball blocked my view of the road and the water balloon broke when I tried to catch it and shorted out my seat heater switches.

Oh, and the feel from 1st to 2nd didn't change one bit.

Ken is either full of crap, or he has some kind of kenjackiechan coordination!

I was thinking that it was a weather issue. The car never bumped this bad during the summer. Now that it is much colder, I thought maybe it has something to do with it.

I found that after doing an ECU reset it was much smoother.

Also, It helps to really accelerate through the gear to smooth things out.
