Clutch chattering?

Hey I was just curious, when I start my engine (6speed manual) sometimes I here a chattering, like how sometimes a aftermarket clutch sounds.. And right when I turn off the engine, something seems to chatter again for a half second before the engine stops. Does anyone else have this little chattering problem, its not really significant, you can barely hear it while in the car windows closed, but you think its anything serious?

Also this is my first new car I have ever bought, how does our warranties work? I bought my car in Maryland but I can just bring it to any Nissan and have it checked out?

Thanks in advance

Yep, I've got that same sound. I noticed that if you push the clutch in while turning the car off, it tends to go away. I notice it a lot more when the clutch is out and car is in neutral when pushing the off button.

Warranty is good at any dealer across the United States. It actually benefits the dealer to do your warranty work, b/c they get reimbursed for the labor through Nissan.

I also have the clutch chatter issue. Mine gets louder the warmer the car is.

Yep I got that.

Got it too!

It goes away if you depressed and hold the clutch in. Have not opened her up, but it sounds like the throw-out bearing.

ok thats good to know!... so you think its not a big deal? dont gotta bring it to the dealership?

I have it too, and no it's not a big deal.. it's normal.. I love my clunky clutch and tranny.. it's beefy!

Throw-out bearing... our transmissions are great during the first few hundred miles depending on how it is driven. Then it gets noisy and clunky. I don't see much difference with this transmission compared to the '06 unit installed in my '03 Z. Clutch action is nicer, but pedal travel is too far.

A Nissan trait. My G is the same way.

Is there an aftermarket fix or upgrade that can be done to get rid of the noise??
What is the source for the clunk noise, anyone know for sure??

Go read the E46 M3 forum. I had it on my 2003 M3. There is a great thread on this. It is normal. I always shut off the car with the clutch in to eliminate the noise nicknamed the "death rattle".

Hi I'm having the same sound - while driving on first I depress the clutch and when I need to come to a full stop, I press the clutch down and get a cling sound, same on second - is that normal?

I had big dicussion with nissan about the noise last year
And at the end it is just normal
The nissan HQ told 'if theres any damage or something caused by that rattling thing, it will be covered by warranty no matter what'
Ive changed tranny once by grinds on 5th and 6th and still having the rattle
After i changed light weight flywheel the rattle goy even worse but i say it is just normal

Funny thread, you guys should hear my car right now. It would make you a lot happier about your barely noticeable stock setup.
