I truly admire people in this day and age that still have the ability to save for something that they want, instead of just putting it on a credit card or having some 15 year note. Anyway I hope you goes well, I have had this car for 3 days and absolutely love it.

bigsix 12-13-2011 05:58 AM

Good luck to you

kenchan 12-13-2011 11:24 AM

sounds good op. i usually start saving up for my next cars about 3yrs in advance.

unfortunately for me there's really no car that impresses me right now in the sub-$50K range that i REALLY WANT to get. there's something major lacking either power, MT, looks, interior. seems like the 370Z was the last car that i really wanted. :D hahahahaha.

Same here... there are faster cars and cars with more amenities, but they just don't do it for me either.

Good luck. It will be well worth it. :)

I started saving when the 280zx was the current model. After some ups and downs, finally got my Z, after the scare when they quit making them for a while. Put 270k miles on a crx in the meantime, hope my Z is as good to me.

Lot's of Ramen Noodles, and free buffets at happy hour in the process.

But good luck, maybe it won't take you as long as me ;-)

Did you save, or invest? If you just saved, you paid something like $80k for that 370.

Op, don't pass up super great rates that nearly keep pace with inflation and year model price hikes.

SE 12-13-2011 01:23 PM

cup noodles all day! :)

Yes, invested, with the ups and downs in the market. Ended up financing anyway.

If you think about it, the price actually went down. Back in those days, the 280 i wanted Cost about $36k. The one I got with 2011 bucks was 42, so I think adjusted for inflation it cost less, but with much more tech.

Dealer almost had me at 6.9, but when i contacted State Farm to ask about gap insurance, they said it was included with all their loans. So I had them quote me a rate and 1.9% I couldn't believe my luck. So financed all but 10k for 72 months lol, with the money sitting in the bank to pay for it. Gonna let that money roll interest.

Dealer was bummed when I went to take delivery, and told them to cancel their financing, hehe.

Not to hijack the thread...

Gotcha, I just hate seeing people wait for years to get what they want and pay to do it because of inflation devaluing their savings, etc when 1.9apr exists. Saving up is great if you can do it in a year or two, but five or ten? Probably won't even want the same model car by then, lol.

NoynuR 12-15-2011 02:00 AM

i used to have a 2010 nismo and ended up having to sell it.. well i sold the wrong car actually. :( at the time i was driving the nismo and a 2010 ss, but the ss i was driving more ya know more practical with the 4 seats. was making two car payments and decided it wasnt the smartest thing to do so i sold the z privately for a really low price 31k with 4,000 miles i mean the bumper needed to be replace ( mom curbed it at a sonic) but **** that was hell of a deal. i sold the z paid off my camaro and long story short i dont have either cars now seeing as i have really high insurance rates (450 a month) so im waiting till they drop again to own a car and this will give me time to save and see what the coming years will hold for the z. mid cycle updates should be coming soon!

I'll get the z just got to time it right :)

BrianMSmith 12-19-2011 07:27 PM

The used car market should get you in a car much faster than a new one, and interest rates are quite low even for used, I just got a refi at 3%.

Make a dream board.* Look at it every day. You'll be amazed how fast it comes your way. Dreams become reality....

* This is done by cutting picture out of what you want in life and putting on poster board or, printing it out.... The more you do... like draw the car with detail, the more energy goes into the idea and the faster it comes your way.

Laugh all you want but that is how my car came to me in less than 30 days.
:ugh2:

Some people call this..... Where there is a will, there is a way.
