From the manual:

The Intelligent Key port does not charge the Intelligent Key battery. If you see the low battery indicator in the vehicle information display, replace the batter as soon as possible.

[If the battery dies] inserting the Intelligent Key into the port allows you to start the engine.

That isn't a recharger. Just a key holder. In the event your battery dies you can insert your key in the car and get the car started till you buy a battery. You can open the trunk by placing the key in the door and making sure both doors have been opened with a double turn. Then the trunk will open when you touch the button in the rear.

Sorry to burst your bubble but you need a watch battery for your fob. With daily use they last about 1 year. Maybea few months longer???

I been using these fobs for 4 years and the best I've done is about 15 months without changing the battery. Salesmen will tell you 2 to 3 years but I don't know a whole lot of people that get that much out of a bettery.

I was told the key port will drain the battery and is only to be used when the battery in the key fob is dead. I was given that information when I went for a test drive in an Infiniti G25x. We should keep an extra battery in the glove box.

Yes, I searched, so forgive me if i'm a dummy.... is it simply a matter of prying open the fob and buying a new battery at a local retail place and pop it in?
