Direct injection: epic fail??

Hey guys,

Seems like Nissan will be incorporating dfi into the Zs in a few years....but is it really that great of an idea? Yes it will make more power but lately ive seen so many engine failures from dfi equipped cars due to their nature of carbon deposits.

Ive seen a good number of porsches going down via some very nasty carbon deposits. That's why when everyone bashed the e9x m3 for not having direct injection, some people were very glad and look at it now. What do you guys think?

I trust the Z engineers have learned from the competition. This may indeed be an epic win?

Nissan has had experience with their NEO-DI engines, but I'm assuming it's because of the fuel quality in Japan versus what we have here.

Direct injection makes fuel system upgrades far more difficult. If you plan on forced induction, you'll likely want to start with a non-direct inject engine.
