Just curious...
Has anyone seen 1/4 times with the Z with exhaust set up and intake yet? With a stock time of about 13.4, you think it would break 12s with those simple mods?

Waiting myself
Havent seen anything yet. Dont think it will be that much of a change. In order for response to be affected, gotta do headers, downpipes, exhaust. Still, you have to take into consideration driver ability.............Some guys just simpley cant launch.

more than that
Have to change everything in the intake/exhaust to change the car. Larger volume intakes give you the ability to increase air flow in. Simply swapping intakes and exhaust doesnt "open up" air flow restrictions. Changing everything on the exhaust from headers back will increase flow, decreasing backpressure, then allowing quicker response.
The whole half a second thing.....once again that will depend on the driver. Even bone stock your average Joe wont pull the 13.4 that the car is capable of. By no means am I saying you are an average Joe behind the wheel, so please dont take it that way. Best way to find out I guess is to clock your own 1/4 time, swap out all of your air flow parts, run the 1/4 again. There are more than a few parts out there from different manufacturers that will give you different results as well. Berk for instance has there HFC's that seem to be popular with a few on this site. I personally ordered these from overseas: http://www.mines-wave.com Just click on the Fairlady tab and scroll down to the straight pipes. Absolutely no restriction with these.

I already have my stillen intake and exhaust. I agree on Berk HFCs being the choice for most. I personally will purchase the stillen HFC. I don't think I'll buy headers though. I don't want to alter too much on the Z until the warranty expires or soon expire (wife will kill me LOL!) Hopefully with those simple mods will make some difference. Thanks for your thoughts on the matter!

slight
You will see some change, but it wont be full potential of changing the headers as well. The entire system is the breathability. Even if you change the cats and exhaust, the exhale of your engine is still restricted with the stock headers. You will see and feel a difference Im sure, but still not the complete difference until you open all restrictions in the exhaust side.
I feel you on the wife thing, I hear about it everyday. She is used to me spending rediculous amounts for the Japanese market products, vice what can be purchased here in the U.S. My trick is just to take her shopping so she can spend a couple hundred here and there.......and she will leave me alone for a mod or two.

I'm starting to learn the whole part for a part business. If I want my HFCs, I've got to buy her a handbag first.

Me too Me too
Mine just broke the news to me about a new Lous Vuitton handbag she wants.......of course she broke that to me while I was looking at a complete twin sports turbo kit. My wife is Japanese, guess it dosnt matter where you come from, they all want the same things in trade for letting us buy parts.

VA Beach is pretty nice if you're a car guy. They aren't as strict down there as they are up here, plus you've got the beach and F/A-18s flying low all day long.
