Default What do you think?

Hi guys. I'm about to get a Z and I need help in deciding what trim I should get. As I understand it, the touring sport comes with leather seats and a better sound system(BOSE). The touring is also around 4K more than the base model with sport package. Is it worth the upgrade to touring?

Would it be better to just buy base then upgrade the seats to Bride seats and replace the stock HU with a better one at a later time? At least I do not have to spend the extra 4K outright.

I'm asking because I'm a little price sensitive because I will be paying in cash and 4K is a lot more cash than I planned to part with. I'm paying in cash because I'm not from the US and I will have the car shipped to me, hence, I can't take out a loan for the car. But if it's worth the upgrade then I'd get the touring sport version.

I hope you guys can help me out.

Thanks!

If you are price sensitive, then i would definatly forget about the touring package. The leather seats and a better sound system can be done aftermarket for less.

Default base

I have the base with sport package.....love it. Not a big fan of leather anyway. Recaro/Bride/Konig seats can be swapped out, and audio is a dime a dozen........all for under 4K. Especially if you change audio DIY if you have the skillz.

It all depends on you man, do you want all the creature comforts or do you want the bare minimum?

I'm on the bare minimum side, I'll buy the most base car with absolutely no add-ons and fix what I want as I go. I take that approach since I don't really care for any of the add-ons from the sports(brakes, lsd, syncrorev, wing) and touring(navi, bose sound, leather heated cars, better head unit.

I especially don't like the autorev stuff so I refuse to buy a sports package. The leather I don't care for, would rather carbon fiber bucket seat. Not to forget all the other add-ons you can add, like light in the door floor?, rear wheel guards and some other crap, personally I'm cool off of that.

Why spend 40k+(socal) on a fully loaded 370z sports touring, when I can spend 28k(if I luck out) on the base model and spend 12k on mods, that will perform much better than a sport touring. In my case that's why I justify buying a base. But that might not be your case, it all depends on what you want out of the car.

Yep, and of course the flip side...

If you want the creature comforts that the touring offers but don't want the added 'work' of upgrading a base model to get them, you have your answer. Either way, I'm sure you'll love the car. Do remember that you can always turn off SRM if you don't want to use it. That being said, it's rather addicting and I bet you'd leave it on

One thing to think about is that the touring radio is much more difficult to replace. It is not a simple double din unit. So if you grow old of the Bose sound system, which you may because it lacks many features, then you can't just pop in a system with what you want.

I personally passed on it and if you are worried about the 4K you should too.

Touring and sport - are two different things. You can get a Touring 370Z which includes leather seats, bluetooth, Nav (optional) etc. Sports package can be added to either base and touring models. I personally love my base with sports. If money is an issue, just go with base with sports or touring non sport.

CBRich what makes that radio more difficult to replace, my sport with touring just arrived friday and i didn't mind spending the extra but sometime next year up grading the sound system.

If you look at your dash you will notice that the radio is not a separate unit. It is fully integrated with the climate control. It's possible someone will come out with a dash kit to rectify the problem but it will either require some cutting of the climate controls or replacement of them with the dash kit. Either way a PITA.

Default Its out

Scosche has already come out with the kits necessary to integrate with aftermarket audio.

NN04B is the part number for the harness

NN1456B is the dash kit

You dont lose steering wheel controls with this at all. Fully integrated. The only other part needed is an antenna adapter.......but that is standard for all Nissan vehicles. The harness is the same for the 370 as the 350. The dash kit is the only difference.

Scosche Industries

I couldn't see them. Only goes up to 2008 (350Z). Where did you find the info?

Default Mecp

Got a buddy that works R&D for MECP. Talked to him yesterday to find out what the deal was. Called him on Wed of last week and he had nothing. Gave him a couple days to research for me and those are the part numbers he gave me. I have the harness and the kit itself on order. He told me I should get it by next Tuesday.

Sorry notmygtr, I believe we may be talking about different things. I listed the radio problem as a disadvantage to the touring model. I don't believe the dash kit you listed will work with the touring model.

If I recall, the touring and base have the same dash, and can use the kit, and it is the nav that can't, because the whole thing is one big unit.

The second picture I posted is the touring non-nav version. The third is the base version. As you can see the touring does not have a cutout for the radio. It is one panel for both radio and climate control.
