the longest the Z was ever really fully phased out for was like 4 years from 99 to 2003.

If they go ALL electric then I definitely will not be buying another Z. If it was a hybrid with 400hp, then MAYBE I can consider another Z in the future. If they do go the turbo route then I would probably be all over it.

The Autocar article said that Nissan would continue the 370Z NOT make it electrice. Nissan is planning a new, smaller, electric sports car. NOT a Z replacement.

Doubt anything electric. It's all talk and rumors now. Only electric cars for now will like the Volt, Leaf, and Prius. I'm not sure if Nissan will find a brand new Z campaign anytime soon, especially with the low sales of 370z. You can still find brand new 2010's sitting around going into 2012. About a month ago when I was looking I saw a couple new 09 Z's sitting on lots.

Just like the 240Z introduced people to affordable sports cars, I hope the next Z introduces people to affordable electric sports cars. Assuming the driving range improves, the only thing I would miss would be the exhaust note.

I've been talking this talk for a while now. Looks like I might be right.

It's where the world is heading, though, so you might as well be first to the party.

AMEN BROTHER!!! The gospel has been spoken. Electric sports cars are for pansies and pacifists. Electrify sedans. I don't care. Electrify vans SUV's and government vehicles. Kool. Hybridize 18 wheelers and other utility commerical vehicles. But when you bend over to the conversion of sports cars???? That's where all respect for the auto industry is broken. Where's the dignity in these engineers even thinking about an electric"SPORTS" car??? What is the future of FI? Buying a higher volt/ohm battery pack? Will we be upgrading our stereos for better simulated exhaust rumble?
No thanks, no pansymobiles disguised as a sports car for me. This is why its important to upgrade weak parts in our Z's for durability. The gas engine as we know it will be over inside of a decade. Our cars will be valueable classics as well as every other muscle/sports car of today. The world will be one giant honda CR-Z/toy prius and Teslas will continue to cost a heart and lung. The classics will rule beause the future will be us being forced to buy the nissan Z-ev pansy edition. Lmfao!

True,

EV technology can be pretty cool if done right. It can only get better as technology advances.

Yeah, it's not the same fire breathing stuff we all know and love... but if that's the way the world goes we can at least still have power. And instant torque.
