A few questions!

Hey everyone! :hello: So I am turning 16 real soon and am going to be getting my first car. My limits around 50k but I love the 370z and just the history of the Z cars so am definitely going to be getting it. But I have a few questions about it and some of the aftermarket upgrades. BTW, getting the touring and sport edition with nav. So first question, is their any way to get a new 370z in yellow? Because I have seen a few that color on the forums but never have seen it on Nissans website or dealerships. And I think that is the best looking color. Second is after I get the car I have around 10-20k to spend on it. I want to get some aftermarket rims, but the rest I want to spend on performance. I honestly know around as much as a squirrel when it comes to car parts/aftermarket stuff etc. So what would be some good upgrades to get? Looking into a few things but I really don't know what I'm doing so help would be appreciated! And don't worry will treat this car like it was my baby! Oh and last question, with the upgrades what kinda numbers could I get? Thanks everyone :tiphat:

16 and your budget is 50K?! Whhhaaaaaaa???????

cough cough

In before the flaming begins.

nogoodname 11-20-2011 08:54 PM

Yellow was only offered in 09 so get black lol.

If you have 20k for mods, go straight for a turbo or supercharger setup. Don't waste your money on bolt-ons and rims. You can lower the car and put wheel spacers on the OEM wheels. The car will look great and will have great power!!!

:werd:

if I had a Z and 20k to drop, I would:

Supercharge or TT (GTM personally
KW V3's
Rims of choice + solid tires (maybe TEs wrapped in PSS's)
Front lip of choice

Save the last few K for incidentals

Yeah, for tickets and the like. You know, what most 16 year olds would get from driving a car like the Z.:shakes head:

nogoodname 11-20-2011 09:04 PM

Concerning what numbers you will get... You won't get much with bolt-on parts.

Alchemy 11-20-2011 09:10 PM

Save the $$$ and buy a GTR. IBTL

Don't forget to turn the vdc off. That thing really gets in the way of having fun with the car.

NissanUsa, The best thing to do is to go to the forced induction part of the site, and don't post. just read. read everything you can for a couple weeks. Learn the do's and the do nots, learn from others' combined experience to prevent any hiccups or rotorwash. It would Sprobably be good if you don't post again until you read 98intrigue's whole thread http://www.the370z.com/forced-induct...urbo-370z.html.

Also if you haven't noticed yet, announcing your age here tends to open up certain unpleasantries, such as myself: Having just spent 4 years in the army and serving overseas, I recently ended having to move back in with my mother so I could afford to go to university. When you come on here and say your age and your budget, you are going to get negative responses, and questions about trolling. So be smart and read read read before you post. Its called lurking, and its good

Is it bad that I had to google "daft" to find out what it meant?:ugh2:
But thanks for the replies everyone. The money is out of my pocket, my parents aren't paying for it. But anyways was going to get GTM TT, Rims, exhaust, oil cooler and don't know what else. But like I said, don't know much about cars so yeah...
EDIT: And thanks Rooster, I now realize that naming my age was a pretty big mistake. And I have been lurking the forced induction part of the site. But I'll read that thread, Thanks

:iagree:

Or at the very least drive the car for a year or so before boosting it. It can get away from you with stock power much less 150+ over stock.

Hey NissanUSA, no offense, I am just plain curious, you have 50k to buy a car and 20k to mod it, and those are your own money, and you are 16.

How could you save up 70k in how many year???

thanks

I find it hard to believe you've worked for this considering you can only legally work and get paid at 14 with VERY limited hours until after your 16. U.S. Department of Labor - Find It By Topic - Youth & Labor - Age Requirements So 70k saved in a year or so (50 for car 20 on modds) seems a bit far fetched. If it's trust fund money or right out of dads pocket. You still haven't worked for it so you don't know the value of money so it's easy to blow through it and throw it around like it's no big deal.

Earn around 30k from golf tournaments. Invest in gold, silver, and palladium. Watch silver quadruple, palladium double, and gold rise by around 1.5x.

I guess a caddy "can" earn that much......:nutswinger:

KaienZ34 11-20-2011 09:56 PM

Well if she's a pro golfer it shouldn't be very hard to google 16yr old golf pro and find her.

6MT 11-20-2011 09:58 PM

I thought the op was a guy..

KaienZ34 11-20-2011 09:59 PM

They never said one way or the other. I didn't see a dude pro 16yr old golfer.

NissanUSA 11-20-2011 10:01 PM

Lol I'm a guy and their are tons of 10-20k prize money tournaments at local country clubs. And they are Opens so you don't have to be a "pro" to enter them. But I appreciate all the effort Kaienz34 went through to try and find me

shaun66 11-20-2011 10:02 PM

Im 16 with a 370z its fine guys :stirthepot:
Just be mindful of other people when driving.

alcheng 11-20-2011 11:11 PM

Honestly, there is nothing wrong for a driver to drive a modded car, a Ferrari or whatever, as long as you drive within your limit and be responsibe.

The things is what you, as a 16 years old, will face in real world. are prejudgements from other people and extra comments/fingers pointing at you if you done anything wrong, such as accident, speeding or cutting off people lane. It's gonna be VERY VERY HARSH on you.

The other thing is, when other people see a 16 years old driving a modded import, exhaust noise and stuffs, they gonna thought you are a spoiled kid, cops gonna choose to stop you rather than a 40 yrs old driving the same Z, you will have to expect that's gonna happen alot, and you gonna hold your breath and stay calm.

Nobody will know you earn your own money to make this happen except us in this forum.

It sounds ridiculous and shallow, but sadly it is what it is.

Of course, we forum Z members always welcome any new Z owner.

It's just from looking at you background, 16 with 70k looking for a sport car with heavy mod in mind, it just makes us raise our eyebrows, but be expect it will happen to you in real world too.

Have fun on the buying, you might not need to mod it right away, an orginal Z is very very enjoyable to drive!!!

note: as long as you drive responsiblely, ppl gonna respect you. :)

cheers

jordan3720 11-20-2011 11:34 PM

alcheng is right, it's good to enjoy the car for awhile as it sits, to create an appreciation for it. Get to know it before doing the heavy mods, and make sure it is what you really want. Great care must be taken while driving it though. It's hard enough being attentive driver at age 16, much less in a small sports car with low visibility that many people on the road try to bully. Good luck. ibtl
