Sure he does!!.. and he wisely invested his income in Argentinian cattle futures...bought short and made a killing during the mad cow disease outbreak!

hey man trust me your gonna get alot of **** from everyone being 16 and driving that car. especially the cops. I was barely 19 when i bough my brand new and ive been pulled over just bc cops think im spoiled to mess with me saying ur tints are too dark ur exhaust is too loud etc... but they feel like dumbasses when i pull out my id and shows im a Marine. but be careful out there and im guessing u can afford the insanely high insurance conidering ur buying this at 16

NissanUSA 11-22-2011 11:15 PM

Alright after sorting through the nonconstructive post (RICharlie) ;) I learned a lot from everybody. Now I most likely won't do any major things to it until at least a few thousand miles. And I may try to do a driving school since a few people suggested that. Which I can definitely see why (Whats the point of having a sports car that you suck at driving right? :p) So thanks everyone :tippet: Have a good Thanksgiving :)

when will you pull the trigger?

LOL, true true, but it also depends will OP be able to get a test drive first, or he'll just buy one anyway.

:driving:

BTW, NissanUSA, any particular color or package you are thinking about??

If you are going to mod it eventually, I am wondering do you need to purchase the sports package....

Kenny 11-23-2011 12:28 AM

Could you imagine being 16 with a 370Z right now?

Waiting to meet all the girls being dropped off by their parents in AMC parking lot on opening night of Breaking Dawn!

Lap'em up in the Z! You can fit a couple in fetal position in the trunk. Fresh out the womb

Most likely will get pearl white with touring/sport package. But thats true, do I need the sports package? I mean I am pretty much going to replace everything on it. Only thing I plan on not doing would be putting a body kit on it. Since I already know I wouldn't like the fit/color matching. Does anything come on the sports package that you can't buy something better for it aftermarket wise? Probably won't get Nismo since I am so used to my parents Lexus and Range Rovers that it would be a really tough change going to non leather seats and non heated seats of the Nismo. But all though, I just looked at the local dealerships and I swear all they had were nismos :shakes head:
And I never thought of going to Breaking Dawn, but now I may have too :p

KaienZ34 11-23-2011 07:56 AM

Sport pgk comes with 19" wheels, bigger brakes, rear spoiler, front chin spoiler (black plastic thing under the front bumper) synchro rev matching 6MT only, VLSD (better rear end) better tires.

If you are planning on replacing a lot of the stuff, the biggest thing that you wouldn't have w/o the sport package is the SRM. Also unless you get a new LSD right away, the one that comes in the sport package is better than nothing.

But I have one question left for everyone. I researched the forced injection forums a little like *Forgot his name* said. And I still don't get the difference between twin-turbo and supercharged. Is their like a simple way to explain the differences or is it more complex than that? I did find this TT kit
GTM Motorsports*::*FORCED INDUCTION*::*GTM 370Z (TURN KEY) TWIN TURBO KIT
But I can't find any numbers for it and don't know if this is better than the GTM supercharger or what? Sorry for my confusing writing but basically, GTM supercharger vs GTM TT? And on the TT page. It has "Turbo Kit Stages" and they say 500hp, 700hp, 900hp, 1000hp. Can someone explain this for me? And what would be like the 0-60 times with the TT or supercharger? (Yes, I know 0-60 doesn't matter to most people but jw.) Thanks again:tiphat:

NissanUSA, nice to see you earning your own bread. (I see 20 somethings driving Enzos around Tampa and turbo'd Lambos on youtube and I admit my first thought is TRUSTFUND) Looks like you may be able to sustain that income for a long time to come. I also understand your attraction to this car. I'm 49 and just HAD to have it when I saw it....BUT (and this is a BIG but...) you REALLY need to start with a lesser vehicle (or buy a second, cheaper car to gain experience with) because you WILL wreck. First let me point out Nick Bollea (or Hogan if you like). Youth+$$$+invincibility= getting in over your head. Second, I've always hotrodded American V8s (older cars...60s thru 80s) they are predictably lazy and easy to "drift" or fishtail on the street. I've had my 370 for 7 months now, still screw around on vacant lots or lonely roads and these cars can get away from you QUICKLY. Start a slide and just once lift off the throttle and the snap steer will either spin you out or put you in the ditch. Please consider the sage advice of the members here.

Then I'd suggest you just get a base, eventually, you will put on coil-over, once you lower the car, then you need the camber kit, then you will mod the ECU, then the FI unit, FI means more intake airflow, then you need new exhaust, when you add more horse, then you need more brake power, and more traction thus the tires+wheels. Depends on how many horses you will gain, then you might need performance clutch, plus some mod on the exterior depends on your preference.

hahaa, have fun!!

I thought i was young when i got my 370Z (23)... dam. You can do whatever you want with your money OP,,, but do take these members' posts into consideration. 16 is really young and i know that when i got my car at 16,, it was used as a learning experience. because of those mistakes and experiences, i now know how to treat my Z. However,, since it seems like you got your heart set on getting a 370z ................... PearlWhite FOR THE FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! >=] gluck and happy thanksgiving

RiCharlie 11-26-2011 08:35 AM

I am going to get serious in this post for once instead of kidding around.

I dont know what your overall financial situation is but I certainly hope this car is not coming at the expense of a good education. Pardon me for lecturing.. i dont mean to but I have seen from my own family's experience that at a young age people tend to think short term and think the good times with money rolling in will continue forever...

That car will likely be junk in ten years but good education in preparation for tomorrow will last a lifetime...

Thats my grandfatherly lecture for today! :)

Let's see...16 yrs old....has "earned $50K from playing golf at country clubs and investing in silver, gold, and palladium"...states he's being "frugal" with cash by purchasing a $35K car with intent to spend another $20K on mods....

Tell ya what. Post some links from the tournaments you've won. Surely there are some links online. Until then, I'll just sit here and laugh at other posters who actually believe you. :tiphat:

And i suppose you also dont believe my son has made enough money playing water polo and shorting Argentinian cattle futures that he is planning to buy an Audi R8 when he turns 16????

I would think that with a few more country club tournaments coming up, a down payment on a 458 Italia is a frugal idea.

Commodities

If you made money from investing in the ETFs for gold and silver, you were lucky for the runnup not smart just lucky. But remember, with gold still up 17% YTD and silver flat , commodities are very volitile at this point so watch out either for more corrections or runnups once the debt problems seem to be on there way to be solved around the world(Europe). Also , you'll pay taxes to both IRs and your state even though your still a kid, so put money aside for that. Good luck on the Z but dont get over your head. Buy the base model and go from there for the upgrades such as the stereo.:gtfo2:

Now THIS is a touchy subject these days. What defines a good college education? With all the socialist, tenured professors making $400k+ to subject todays student to their personal philosophies instead of teaching critical and analytical thinking...todays Universities ARE the reeducation camps hippies used to think the right wing feds were building. Personally, Hillsdale college or Liberty University.

NYBladeZ 11-27-2011 03:30 PM

Man, once you get to work on this car give us a journal, it'd be cool to see a Z with $20k dumped into it. Fast and Furious anyone?

Skeeterbop 11-27-2011 03:52 PM

So according to his posts he should be getting this car tomorrow. Can't wait to see pics NissanUSA!

smokejr 11-27-2011 04:25 PM

Shorting futures, extremely risky, the margins alone are big $$$$$.

I agree. A quick search shows that at the peak of silver prices (early this year at about $50/oz), he would have had to buy in a four month span at the end of 2008, or early 2006. Which would mean this kid was investing in precious metals at either 12 years old, or 10 years old. Unless all of his money went into a fund controlled by his parents, I'm calling shenanigans on a pre-teenage kid investing $30k in metals.
