Initial thoughts... It's like my 350, only nicer and faster
Compared to the Evo? It's obviously apples and oranges, but I'm happy I made the switch. Driving 80mph on the hwy doesn't shake the sh1t out of the car and rattle my brain lol. Interior is a huge upgrade. Power-wise, it seems about as fast as the Evo from a dig (stock), but top end definitely trumps the Evo. I have a feeling I'm going to love driving this on a daily basis. The suspension just feels so much more solid than the Evo. I feel like I just restated everything that has already been posted in this thread. I'm definitely happy I made the switch. The Evo is a fun car, just not what I want right now. At this point, my only regret is not buying the Z brand new 8 months ago |

I'd say keep the Evo for dd and tuning potential, get a Nismo Z to drive a sports car that has some style. Can't imagine the Z as sole method of transportation!

Wish I had the funds to keep the Evo and get a Z. I dont drive that much, can work from home if I need to and carpool with the missus during the winter when i have to be at the office, so the Z works for me. I'd like to pay the Z off and look into a Ford Raptor as my DD utility vehicle.

The best investment you can make on a VQ engine is a GTM TT setup. Had a chance to drive a TT 7at G37 which has the same engine and most components. I was blown away at how good power delivery was. These cars should have had an FI option from jump street. Get the gtm turbos. Once u have them. You won't need or care about the evo anymore.

Looks great! I would love to get a Raptor as well, but I would only use it for towing or any time I know I have to go off a paved surface.

What would you guys do if you bought a low mile Z and didn't know how the previous owner treated it? I did a thorough visual inspection of the car, and I'm going to change the oil myself, but should I assume the car was beaten on during break in? Should I take it easy on her for a few thousand miles or just drive her hard right out of the gate? I'm positive the car was redlined during test drives... When I started the car up for a test drive, synchro rev was engaged and the salesperson had no clue why it would rev on its own (Subie dealership).

I would say assume nothing, SRM is always on unless you turn it off which most people drive with it on 100% of the time.
Change the oil, drop it by a trusted Nissan dealership and have it inspected and see what they say. They can also check service codes and history on the car from the OBD-II and VIN.

i didnt make i direct switch form Z to X.... i went from a 370Z to SRT-10 to EvoX and i couldnt be happier. Just orderd a **** load of parts for the evo, including a FP Red BB...expecting 430-450hp and mid/high 11's at the 1/4 mile and awesome spool time for the road courses. I'll agree the interior on the X is junk...pretty bad that i had to mod the glove box so it stops rattling. But i bought this car for track use...it is a DD but i can live with the cheap interior when it comes to dropping weight at the track.

Went from X 2 Z lol. Interior on the X sucks and paint is SUPER cheap. I did like my X a lot though, it was a good car to me as far as being reliable and you hardly ever saw another one on the road where I was.

All the parts i had for the Z are sold, except for the nitrous kit.
As for the X, i seen a group buy on the new ball bearing turbos so i said "why the **** not"...lol. Then the black friday sale came along and i saved some money on the twm sts with bushings and cage replacement, ets 4" intercooler and FIC 1100cc injectors. I'll order the rest of the parts when i get home in march
