First Flat ... Not even 400 miles in !!!

A bolt, roughly 1/4" long, no joke. Worked its way in between treads and *barely* pierced the other side. Loud gasping for air sounds, got out of the car, heard it, got right back in the car, and headed to NTB.

I swear ... Each and every time I get a new car ... Its either a flat/nick/scratch/tear/ or something within the first few hundred miles! My last car (Acura RDX) I was on the interstate and a 18 wheeler hearled a rock and cracked the windshield ... o, and I was on the way home from the DEALER -- yeah, I made it all of 5-6 miles down the road!!!

Anyone else have anything bad happen before the 400-500 mile mark?

Within the first 100 mile, bunch of rocks and dried up mud came off a truck that probably went off-roading couple of days prior and end up putting giant scratches on the top of my hood and my windshield. Needless to say, the scratch on the hood is barely noticeable however the scratch on the windshield still looks fresh like day one.

I had a flat also, and bought a new tire. Don't sweat it, you got your first flat in the car out of the way. Hopefully your last. I just ordered a set of Nittos. I can't stand the bridgestones.

a flat is better than a nick/scratch/tear....lol


if it's not a thick bolt,(nail thickness is fixable) it can be repaired easily..... go to the dealer or a tire shop...they will sand the inner part of the tire and install a patch from the inside.......also the air pressure will keep it secure.....

if you track your car or just like to drive at sustained high speeds, I recommend replacing the tire. Your safety is worth more then a measly $300.

yea, if you race quite a bit and burn rubber...changing it is better...if not....there's the other way.

TPMS warning light came on Tuesday evening as I was headed out to dinner. Checked and right rear was at less than 20 psi. Topped it off and checked again in the AM - less than 30 psi. Off to American Tire in Santa Clarita. Had a nail just almost in the sidewall on the side of the tire facing under the car - not repairable. Damn, new tire!

BTW, it would be nice if there was an indicator to tell you which tire was low. I ended up checking all four 'cuz, of course, it was the last one I checked that had the problem. LOL. Also, a check of the tread depth all the way around showed 8/32 to 9/32 remaining of the original 10/32 on the Yokohama ADVANS after over 8,000 miles. Not too bad IMO.

Definitely ... Luckily ... The car is not tracked (business lease) and it was small enough to patch from the inside.

Yeah, that is exactly what they did. Sanded the inside, put an adhesive down, stuck the metal plug through, ripped off the metal part, put what looked like black tar on there, and now its as good as new!

Amen! Yeah, the TPMS is quite sad. They even have a screen right to the left, and you would think it could show the picture of the car with the tire that has issue lit up ... no go! May have been tooooo expensive to put on this car! LOL

Either way ... gotta love low pros!

yup, thats the way it's done.........no worries, i ran on a tire with a patch for the life of the tire, no problems

Now there is the one feature of my 2006 350Z that I miss........ it told you the individual exact pressure of all four tires, and was actually very accurate.
