true, i'd probably end up going with a glossier finish... was originally planning on matching the black metallic color. i'm at that stage where it's my last chance to get a ridiculous looking sports car before i have to actually mature and start acting profesional haha. i'll do some photoshopping of my own later and post the pics.

I have black cherry and as much as i love black rims, i wouldn't do it. The pics posted don't look too bad though. But i feel like in person it would look bad half the time, and OK the other half just because the black cherry color looks so different depending on the lighting. I really want to do gray rims but i feel like i will end up with the same end result and just stay with some sort of silver when i upgrade my rims next spring..

I actually think it looks good, if you get the right wheels though:

Those are bronze iirc.

Z_bro (spelling?) has black cherry painted rims, and those look good, because the rest of the car is cherried out.

I think that unless you're going to change out the headlights, door handles, side markers, etc, you probably want to stick with silver. But to each their own.

great advice so far. i hadn't considered the door handles and such.

currently about to go grab some black cherry touch-up paint, so i guess i could do the wheels too haha. some kind SUV put two white dings on my passenger door. normally i'd line their driver side door with epoxy cement, but it happened in a church parking lot. what's proper etiquette for that?

Personally, I love it. This coming from a guy with a Black Cherry Z and piano black rims.

slm37 11-11-2011 02:59 PM

dAvenue, did you black out the door handles too? just curious.

I haven't touched the door handles, but I did replace the chrome badges with black pearl ones. It made a big difference. I've decided the only option for the door handles, if I do anything at all, would be to match them to black pearl.

Nice!

looks good

Black rims are overplayed! But they only look good on certain colors.

I personally like black wheels on lighter colored cars. But after seeing dAvenue's pics, I think it looks really nice on Black cherry. I also think gold wheels on Black cherry would be sick!
