Can someone enlighten me on what BMW is trying to do with the 1 series? At first, I understood it as being the more racer tuned car, but it just seems like BMW dropped the ball with it. It has the performance, but lacks the looks and the luxury at its price. 37000? You can almost get a 335 for that.

I haven't done any homework on the BMWs since a year ago, so maybe I'm just not up to date on the info, but still. It just seems like the 135i is an in between car BMW is making for the M3 desiring crowd, but it sounds overpriced for even that when compared to the 3 series.

well why would it not be? Its smaller / lighter / and faster than a 335 w/ the same engine... I dont see your point... All BMW's are expensive... you cant really get a 335 for 37k... and considering how new M3s are super bank... close to 50k... really this car is replacing the non beast M3 we are all used to seeing...

The 335i is putting up faster times. More grip yeilds better times. Stock.

The M3 on the other hand, if you have the money to throw around, equipped with a G-Power supercharger is just sick. Makes me want to throw up.

But those who mentioned it before had it right, a 135i is going to be more of a luxury sport. The 370z is pure sport. Not to mention, the 370z has a much larger engine. Given time, the mods you guys will have available are going to put the 3 series on the back burner.

What are you talking about, the Z already puts the 3 series (except M3) on the back burner even without mods.

In a straight-line, it really is a driver's race between the two.

However in regular driving situations, but 135i may feel a bit or actually be a bit faster due to the low end torque. A manual 370z, really needs to be in the correct gear and RPM while the 135i has a little more leeway in this regard.

I really dislike the 135i just cause I feel like its ugly and not that much faster for me to consider it over the 335i. I'd imagine the 135i/335i makes a much better daily driver than the Z, but they do lack a LSD. The N54 engine is just fantastic.

No a stock 135i does not do that. I know someone who has a 135i and its no faster than our 370Z. The only reason the 370Z wins is because it has better handling

$600 later and the 135i hands the 370 a beating. That's what I am getting at. Any BMW enthusiast with an N54 more than likely has it chipped. That's the nature of turbo engines.

We keep bouncing back and forth between tracking and 1/4 mile. Stock for stock the 370z wins at the track. The 1/4 mile is a drivers race.

+1

The 370 was designed for this, the 135 was not. The 370z has wider tires, a wider body, and relative horsepower.

btw, I love your front bumper. Is that stock on the touring edition or a kit you've added? Looks great.
