my 7yr old G's seats are near new condition. only thing i do is treat it with leather products from time to time (like once a season), use special leather detailing spray every 2-3wks, and try to keep the car out of the sun when not in use. that's about all.

Most leather is just vinyl on the surface. I know Porsche uses real leather, but Ford, GM, others use vinyl faced leather. Does Nissan fall into that category? I know the inserts are a synthetic of some type.

on my G it's real leather, not the leatherette. i am pretty sure the leather in the Z is also real leather. (mine is cloth seats on my Z as i prefer cloth on sportscars).

It's real leather on the Z, save for the shift boot which I believe is vinyl.

The Mustang also uses real leather on the seating surfaces.

Apparently just the shitty seats from Lear do not :(

Hey kenchan, what leather products do you use on your Z and G?

on noes, free Griot's advertisement yet again. :icon17:

LeatherCare - once or twice a season. (just get the smaller 8oz).

Leather Care - Interior Detailing - Car Care - Griot's Garage

LeatherCare Spray - once every few weeks. this stuff is excellent. dries quick and matte. (also 8oz is plenty).

Thanks! I've started to use Speed Shine and really like it for a quick clean up. I'll have to get the leather products and add it to the detailing routine.

yah, especially the LeatherCare Spray is very easy to use. just spray into your MF towel and wipe down. just keep working over the same seat until the towel eventually evaporates (takes no more than a min or so). super easy, no mess.

I've been driving mine for 12 months now. I've managed to add 14k miles to it in the process... about 5k miles of that have been road trips.

My seats are fine looking. Pass seat is perfect. Driver seat bolster is a little fuzzy looking, but in great shape. Driver floormat is a little worn from where I put my feet. Pass mat is perfect.

All the interior stuff is holding up well, nothing wearing irregularly. @ 28k miles with the factory windshield wipers and brake pads with plenty of life left. No major issues to report other than my hatch shocks still stick a little even though they were replaced about 5 months ago.

I've got a whole 15k on mine since May 09, and I've had no issues with the interior like premature wear or rattles? its still pretty tight. I've taken it Canyon carving many times, and it handles great but of course thats with coilovers and bigger sways. The front ends got some minor pitting from rocks getting kicked up but other than that I'm pretty pleased. :)

My car may not be the example your looking for but owned her for about a year and a half put 15k on her and its not my DD. Not one problem ever. Never been to the shop, and the tranny shifts fine

Skeeterbop 10-27-2011 04:30 PM

Mine isn't quite the example you want either being a base+sport. I bought mine new back in March and have been using it as a DD the whole time minus 3 months while i was deployed. So far I am at 12.5k miles and it still is nice and quiet. My biggest issue is that for some reason my A/C has decided to start blowing a strange smell even after changing the cabin air filter. The seats are holding up great and I have yet to notice any rattles. So far I would say the car has been doing great!

NickTurnon 10-27-2011 04:36 PM

My car has about 33k on it now. 09 base without leather. Nothing on the car other then the rubber in the drivers door is broken. I wouldn't say broken exactly, but "worn". If someone knows a fix for the rubber, let me know!

But no problems with interior parts breaking, seats breaking, etc...

Not exactly (actually not even close lol) to the spec'd out 370z you asked about IC, but I can tell you that with almost 14K on my '10, the seats look brand new, the car still feels super "tight", like a block of billet like you mentioned even after 4 track days. It's got a couple rattles on the interior but that is 100% caused by the rediculously loud exhaust setup on my car. The shift knob, steering wheel, dash etc all look new too. hell, even the floor mats are holding up great.
