I had mine done a few weeks after I bought my Z in Feb. this year.
$900 for: partial fenders, full hood, facia, mirrors, headlights, door edges. Very happy with material (3M Venture Shield) workmanship, and durability. I highly recommend getting the full hood done. Also, choose an installer that has a computer controlled cutter. They simply input the year and model and the pieces are precisely cut with a perfect fit for your car. Over 10k miles since I had it done and not a single chip or ding. Do it and you won't be sorry; don't do it and you will be. |
Definitely worth it.
Most people don't even realize I have one unless I point it out or they look closely. This is my 2nd year, and only now did I notice an edge kinda curling...its definitely saved my car from many a rock chip... |
Definitely, but don't cheap out, get the whole bumper, HALF the hood, up to the same line on the fenders, I recommend the leading few inches of the roof (mine has 3 rock chips) and I'd recommend the A-pillars too (another 3 rock chips), and mirrors
The extra parts I have seen, which I MIGHT do, once I save money, the REAR quarter panels/rear fenders (rocks fly up from your front tires) and side skirts if you're that anal... The best place to have a strip laid down is on the rear hatch/wing where you put your hands to close it (I use the hatch hook release, but the previous owner scuffed the hell out of the hatch/wing, and the process of re-clear coating it with sanding is such a PIA!!! Also, get one from a reputable guy that offers free replacement if it yellows... You'd hate to have yellow clear bra Btw, front bumper, front fenders, hood, and mirrors should cost like $800~, and ask around/search on the forum for a reputable dealer |
I really wish mine had clear bra. Paint chips on bumper and a couple on the hood from highway road trips.
|
I paid 1300 at Ziebart for full hood/front fenders/bumpers....
wish I had done it earlier.... had a touch up of a rock chip that they found on the bumper, that happen on the trip up. you cannot tell its there.... thinking of getting one for the roof, for I now have to have it re-spray because of the birds. Yes, its worth it |
It's going to be the first thing I do next week when I get mine. The Vegas dealer doesn't do an install, so I have to wait until I get back to Phoenix and find a reputable installer.
Probably going to do front bumper, 1/3 hood, headlights and fenders up to the line on the hood. |

I have always been a fan of them. However, we have pulled it off of my wife's Z4. I don't know if its because with my two jobs I don't regularly take care of the paint work and leave it to the car wash people, but the whole clear bra lost its gloss and looked terrible. We still have it on the front bumper (for now), but removed the hood and headlights.
|
if i were to do it over again - i would have gotten this first.
|
I would have done it if all the shops I called didn't want 3k to do the full front end.

if the clearbra is installed correctly, it should be nearly invisible to the eye. if you have patience you can install pre-cut ones too. |

I have a couple on my bumper and two on my hood. Very ugly. Nissan paint/clear coat sucks |
i wanna get the entire car wrapped with gold... lol
|
where's a good place to get these installed? can the dealership do it or are you better off going to a body shop? and how long is the typical installation time? hours or days?
|
you can get a body shop do it for you there is one near my house they quoted me 500 and 2 days.
I thought of one when I first got it, but then with almost all highway miles I barely have any chips so im gonna rock with the clearbraless look. :icon17::driving: |

They charged about $850 and did the whole front bumper, front half the hood, mirrors, etc. They took a good 4 hours. Very pleased with it all. Even now, three years later, the ClearBra (to the extent you can see it) and the car still look showroom new. |

Clear Bra - is it worth it?
I have a 2011, and I recently repainted the front . . . I have heard some discussion of a clear bra. Is it worth the investment? Do they look OK?

Just finished reading the thread. Did anyone ever find a good place in SF/San Jose Bay Area?
Picking up my new Z on Friday :driving: |
On a related note, anyone know if you can take the scuff marks out of the clear protection? Came home and noticed someone rubbed against my car when they were parking I assume.

Ordering parts and getting appointment times are out of my control. I wish I had found the right guy earlier, but as you know, finding the right people is hard. So, I continue to cringe! :crying: |
Just buy da precut and install it urself. 3-4 hrs is all it takes.
|
Get the clear bra, it's worth every $.
|
Agreed! Paid $1400 (too much I know) for the front bumper, entire hood, mirrors, and window tint all around.... if you don't then you have to stare at rock chips each/every time you wash/wax the thing for the rest of the time you own it.
Recently I had a trucker hauling doubles cross over into my lane just ahead of me while I was gunning it to pass around 'em as quickly as possible. That day ODOT happened to have been pressure washing the areas along the concrete barriers to allow for water runoff. So there was a ton of this red pumice **** along the broken white stripes.... BAM, hole car was sandblasted!!! Luckily I think I only picked up maybe 1-2 very minor chips, but it could have been much much worse. The other thing to consider: If you love following people close/drive aggressively = even more rock chips. |
for all dat i dont think dats a bad deal. especially if u had the shop use good film and tint.

Except I'm also getting fenders, a-pillars and headlights for that price. ($1900 Cdn or roughly $1500 USD) |

So it's better if I just work some extra overtime to pay for it. :rofl2: Thanks for the suggestion though. |
