Front Scrapper Pnl
 

I'm sure it happens to everyone. That scrap when your driving over some sort of incline, usually a driveway or a parking lot tire stopper thingy. and you try all things to avoid, going in at an angle, EXtremely slowy, leaving more than enough room between you and the curb thing. i know it was what it was made for, but my stomach drops everytime it hear that horrible noise, which isnt very often.

the point is, will that Scrapper pnl or assembly need to be replaced with time???:confused:

What?? The Scrapper? Are you referring to the front spoiler? If that's what you're referring to, it was not made for scraping on things, as you seem to believe ("i know it was what it was made for"). It is an aerodynamic device made to reduce front lift. If you keep scraping it on stuff all the time, then yes, you might need to replace it eventually. Or just remove it entirely and leave it off. I know some folks here who have the piece but have opted not to install it, precisely because it'll scrape on things too much, given the roads and driveways they frequent. And it doesn't even come with the car if you don't have the sport package. You'll have a little front lift at high speeds though.

Might be referring to that flat black piece of plastic right underneathe the bumper.

Yikes, I hope not. That thing's pretty high up -- if he's scraping that, then I don't know what the remedy is because it's part of the bumper cover!

I vaguely remember the Z having one but my Z28 had this plastic piece that was attached perpendicularly towards the front of the bumper to protect the actual bumper from scraping on driveways.

I scrape mine occasionally as well, roads around here were not made with sports cars in mind.

It's the long black snap on air dam piece that attaches under the front bumper. Mine doesn't seem to have any significant damage so far but my car came with a spare.

I got my Z in Jan scraped it a few times a Dremmel with a grinder bit cleans it up pretty good. Replacing will be PITA because it is put on with rivets not screws

Who's idea was it to use rivets into plastic? Drilling out rivets in metal is easy enough, but rivets into plastic you'd have to be very careful.

Huh? There's no drilling involved. The holes are pre-fab'd into the bumper cover. You just secure the spoiler with a rivet gun/fastener and the included rivets.

Talking about removing. To remove rivets you have to drill them out by drilling a hole in the center of the rivet. I.e. if you damaged this piece and had to replace it.

Oh, yeah. Removing will be a real pain. Big time.
