Is my climate control broken?

I've seen other posts complaining about it, but it seems to me that at least on my car it's not just "poor", it's actually broken. The A/C is always on.

Default Is my climate control broken?

I've seen other posts complaining about it, but it seems to me that at least on my car it's not just "poor", it's actually broken. The A/C is always on. Hitting the button for A/C doesn't turn it off. Moving the dial to "off" doesn't turn it off. Moving the fan down to minimum doesn't slow down the fan. Changing the temperature to 90 and the A/C continues on at full blast. Push any of the buttons and none of the lights change.

It seems like it's completely defective, just curious if I am missing something before I take it in for service. It feels like there is some lock active preventing me from changing any of the climate settings, but as far as I can tell there is no lock of that sort.

I just got this car yesterday. What sucks is I test drove a similar car but decided to switch because of color, so I didn't get a chance to test drive this car. Otherwise, I have been very happy with the car- but since I don't normally use A/C it really bothers me having it run non-stop the entire time I am driving the car. It's a big distraction and very annoying.

Try pulling the fuse for it...maybe it will reset.

Do you have it set on auto? I rarely use the auto function, but I think it's the other round knob that controls the fan. If you push it it turns the auto climate on or off. Whenever the auto is on, the A/C is on too.

Everytime I start my car the air recirculation button turns on. Does anyone know how I can disable it so that it doesnt automatically come on? I've tried holding it down for a few seconds until it blinks and lights up again but it's always activated when I turn the car back on... (this is with the nav)

I've changed all the buttons from auto to manual to whatever. When i push them the lights don't change at all. It seems like something is stuck.

When the car is shut off the A/C stops, and there is a few seconds delay after starting it, but other than shutting off the engine it doesn't seem to be anything I can do to change it.

I'll see about trying the fuse tomorrow.

Just change it from outside air to recirculate and you won't feel it. When its on outside air you can sometimes feel it coming through when moving.

Well, it's now fixed. It wasn't easy.

Had to take it to the dealer, which was initially a waste of time... called up, made an appointment and brought it in on a Saturday, when I got there the service advisor told me they couldn't do this kind of work on a weekend. So he told me he would contact nissan re: my problem and call me back to schedule an appointment. I didn't get a call back, so a week later I called him and he had me come in this week on Wednesday. Brought the car in, Wednesday evening I got a call that it was done. Instead of waiting for the part to arrive they ordered they took it from an unsold new 370z. The dealer did pay for a rental car for me, so that wasn't too bad.

I got my car back this morning and now the climate control is all working as expected

Glad you got it fixed. I just seem to leave mine off most of the time, doesn't seem quite as intelligent as the one in the Infiniti.

From what I've been told runing the A/C periodically helps extend the life of the unit so many cars start with A/C enabled..... one of the rental cars I just had had the same "feature".

Thanks for the update, and glad that they gave you a loaner. What was the problem?

At least on the Nissan/Infiniti cars you can subsequently turn the A/C off once you activate "Auto Mode", on some cars the A/C is forced on when in defrost mode.

The A/C always ran, full blast, fans on high. Couldn't turn off the A/C or the fans or switch to heat or even use the defrost functions. It was just always on prior to being fixed.
