Note to stupid driver - please check before changing lanes!

Sad to report in about my first ever accident (I'm 28). :shakes head:

On interstate, two lanes, speed limit 65, I am driving about 55 in the right lane. Left lane has build up and the driver of a white Toyota Highlander decides to change lanes to my lane(right lane) before I could swerve out of her way and she clipped my left rear fender and wheel. Also know that the only damage to her car was some paint damage. She had similar marks on every corner of her Toyota! :shakes head:

The wide end of the Z saved me here from a complete spin out. VDC light kicked on as well. Look below for pics of damage. Keep in mind I am very OCD about my car so if there is just one scratch on her then that is ONE TOO MANY!

However, thanks be to GOD that everyone is safe!

Also, RavSpec, I am gonna need some information about getting a new wheel....Volk GT-S 19x10.5+18.

ouch, brutal man.

was it properly noted as her fault? usually they will try to pin it on you since it was your blind spot that was impacted.

hoping for a speedy recovery for the car!

:/ this just makes me sad. Sorry to hear that you drew the short straw and was just at the wrong place at the wrong time.

That sucks bro... I hate crappy drivers, at least you're safe, and the car can be fixed. I had a lot of crap recently happen to my Z as well, and I do know you're pain. Hopefully it will it will be fixed, and back to you in no time.

Yes, I called the police out to the scene and they did a full report where she admitted to not paying attention and not seeing me!

Glad to hear everyone is ok. I hope her insurance will take care of getting your car back to 110%.

Do you have some before shots? I would love to see your car with those rims in its glory!

Exactly, I am calling my insurance (USAA) first thing in the morning to get the ball rolling.

With the numbers of people yacking on their cellphones anymore, this is my biggest paranoia when driving.
Sorry your car is so bunged up, but glad you're ok.

Sorry to hear about that. You car was looking really nice before. Hopefully it won't take to long to get her back.

Thanks. I think getting my hands on the new Volk wheel might take the longest...I sure hope not!

I also am going to take this opportunity to get the door handles painted to match.

DIGItonium 10-16-2011 05:01 PM

Man that'll run anyone's day especially with your new wheels! Glad everyone's made it out fine.

dennis26 10-16-2011 05:02 PM

Sorry to hear about it. Glad you are not hurt. It's great that she took responsibilty for the accident.
