Should I tint my 370Z convertible windows??

My husband is dying to tint our new 370Z roadster convertible windows... I think tinting windows on the hard top looks good, but not on a convertible! Wouldn't it look silly with the top down and tinted windows?? We tried looking online for any convertible with the top down and tinted windows rolled up and can't find a single picture.

Please, if you have your convertible nissan 370z windows tinted, post a picture of it with the top DOWN and windows UP.

We live in Cali and drive w/ the top down all the time and because it is too windy with the windows down when we are going over 100mph, we keep the windows up. I see my husband's point that it would block the sun out and would look good with the black top (when it is up), but I'm not buying how good it would look otherwise...

Thanks and I'll be looking for replies!

IMO, tinted ragtops look goofy. In addition, it is illegal in CA to tint the sides (door windows) so you are asking for trouble.

Imagine this -- you are driving along, enjoying the day, and you get lit up by a copper (the fuzz, man, heat) because you have tinted windows and he has nothing better to do. The officer uses this as probable cause to pull you over. Once you are there on the side of the road, he says, "Hmm, do you mind if I look around in your car?" You agree, of course, but forgot about the contraband in the glove box and the loaded 9mm in the console. Also escaping your memory is the no-bail warrant for your husband's arrest that stemmed from a failure to appear some years back. So -- off you both go to jail -- he goes because of the warrant and you go because he pinned the other stuff in the car on you. The car goes to impound, the kids to CPS and you spend thousands and thousands in legal fees.

Lesson: Do not tint side windows in CA. It is just not worth it.

Further, convertibles driving along with the windows up is a little on the dorky side.

I don't like the look of black tinted windows on a convertible. If its a light colored convertible, I think a blueish tinted windows would look fine.

If you always drive with the top down... it's kind of useless to tint the windows.

If you like to have the option of being seen or not being seen (top up, windows black), it's a great idea to tint the windows.

They look great on that M3 ^

Tinting tends to attract police attention in CA according to cops who've said it.

Since driving ay 100 MPH does the same, this will likely fall on deaf ears.

Good luck.

Ok, well thanks everyone for your comments and pictures. My husband and I have decided to tint the windows at 35% all around, which is both legal in CA and not a very dark tint at all - one of the lightest tinting available. On the white color of the car, it should be a nice contrast. Will post a picture once the tinting is done. :-)
