Has anyone had this happen with their Z?
This past Sunday on my way home from church, I noticed that my check engine light came on. I used to have a Mazda RX-8 and it would do that when the gas cap was not on tight. I figured the same with my Z...so I stopped and tighten it. I noticed that when i started it again...it was idling rough and then it smoothed out. As i drove off...it started jerking and got worse so I had to park it. I let it cool off and tried again only to have the same results. The next morning, I called the dealership and had it towed. They were busy so didn't really look at it till Tuesday. They called me and said that the codes were reading a problem with a intake valve selonid(sp). I asked is this a issue with the Z and he said no. It would take a few days to get the part in. About five minutes later he called me back saying that there was another code. He said they were checking with Nissan techs to find out the problem and fix it. When I went by the dealership later that day...they said it was throwing out other codes. They were not sure what the problem was but they were going to find out and fix my car. I have not heard anything from them since and its Friday. Anybody have those issues with their Z?

Sorry to hear about this. Nothing more frustrating than problems that can't be sourced immediately.
Hang in there and keep us posted. Like TJ mentioned above - thank goodness the car is still in warranty.

Do you know what the codes where? I can't say I've seen anything similar to this.

I just had a CEL- Service engine soon. The gas cap or so I assumed. After two weeks it had not reset. A buddy has a reading device. I had a left bank.... catalyst something. I am vague now. He reset light and it has yet to come back.
I may have a problem but I am not sweating it.

I had a CEL and the car ran very rough and irratic. Turned out to be a bad MAF sensor. The Z has two of them. The dealer had the part in stock and had the car fixed that afternoon. My Z has run great since then.

Had a Service Engine Soon light on last week (I've been off the grid and hadn't driven it in about four months). When I attempted to drive, it started fine but wouldn't accelerate above 2000 rpm...I assumed it was the "limp mode" so I parked it. Tried the next day and it ran fine (the light was still on). Took it to the dealer and they found a VVEL code, ordered the solenoid. Haven't had the light come back on but will have them install the solenoid when it comes in this week.

Update
The dealership called and said that the car was running fine. They said they perform several test where it acted up but over time it got better till it ran fine. They are not sure what caused the issue. "Every now and then we get a car in that acts up and we can't figure out why and then it runs fine." So far the car has ran fine since then.
