Regardless of how long it took you to come to the conclusion that wife>Z, in your wife's mind, you will have taken too long to answer correctly, therefore, regardless of said answer, you are in the wrong and she now feels that you in fact believe Z>wife (irrespective of your written answer or any other logical agruments you may subsequently provide).
