I don't think it's a lack of time when looking at the car...it's just the car not holding up the way I expected...coupled with the aftermarket not fully developing. I think a lot of other people have moved for similar reasons. Saying the current EVO, STI, or Mustang is a step down is a pretty curious statement...worst case they're lateral moves. |

If the objective is straight line performance, Evo and STI are a minor upgrade. They do have the advantage of AWD. Of course, super sticky aftermarket tires on the Z will easily bridge the gap. The Mustang will be a big upgrade in that regard. If it's about handling and track performance, the Evo and STI are lateral moves. They post laptimes usually about the same as the Z. The Mustang would be a downgrade. They have a heavier and less well balanced chassis than the Z, not to mention prehistoric suspension. Turbocharge the Z and you will have the same power and straightline performance as the Mustang, while retaining a ligher, more nimble, and better balanced chassis with the potential for further adjusting and fine tuning the suspension for improving handling. Let's be honest, there isn't much you can adjust on that solid lump of metal in the back of a Mustang ![]() ![]()

This last paragraph is so full of ![]() Edit: nevermind. You're the guy who can't seem to grasp the point of a factory-built racecar, and complaining because it's not twin-turbo....I'll leave this one to someone else. Last edited by Red__Zed; 10-12-2011 at 07:54 AM. |

i sold my 370z because i bought a 300zx TT. I really love that car and put way more time and money into it and the end result was faster and more fun than my 370z, at least for me.. Then i was left with 2 2 seater cars and needed something with a back seat, and figured as long as i was being practical, AWD too, so i bought a 335xi coupe. i'm happy with my stable now.

I had mine for 18 months. By self-imposed martial law inside my brain I am not allowed to own a car for more than 18 months. *twitch*

I managed to go about 6 months or so resisting any and all temptation to go and test drive one, until one Saturday no one decided to show up to our then-weekly 370Z meet. Bored, I decided to drive on over to the Ford dealership and test drove a 5.0 with the Brembo brake package. Two weeks later I had a deal worked out with our very own Lou Fusz and that got me into the car I'm driving right now. So why did I switch? I had the Z for a while and felt like I had a lot of fun with it and wanted to try something different. Aside from some quirks with the Z it wasn't that I wasn't happy with the Z anymore, it was that I was satisfied with my experience and felt it was a good time to switch cars. ![]() Alternate reasoning: Why did I switch? Because no one showed up to the Z meet! ![]() ![]()

I didn't buy my nismo for packing more than two people in it.
I didn't buy my nismo to drive it through snow. I didn't buy my nismo in hopes it will get faster all by itself. however! I did make plans/sacrifices to continue to own it. Many people who sell their cars didn't put enough time into why they're buying it! Spur of the moment or getting caught up in the looks, however nice contributes to impluse buys. According to someone stats I read on here. The majority of 370Z owners where mustang guys! Whatever the reason many don't really have deep rooted love for the Z car in the first place.

it wasn't really not planning ahead. if i had to have one car out of the 3 (335, 300zx, 370z) the 370z was probably the most practical all around for a fun car. the 370z is more reliable than the 300zx(which i wouldd never DD) and its more fun than the 335 all around. However, the 300zx (The way mine is) does fun way better with t tops and 450whp, and the 335 does pracitcal way better with awd and back seats, plus it has similar power and more torque. so no need to compromise. That being said, i'm glad you enjoy your 350z. Nothing better than buying/owning a car for a long time and it continuing to make you happy. Last edited by Jeffblue; 10-10-2011 at 03:06 PM. |
