Are you new here? ;) We all went through that phase of disbelief earlier on. The Stillen intakes rock.

This could definitely be handy. We just need to make sure that the dyno gains given are for a specific part ONLY. Otherwise it will be apples to oranges. If anyone puts a part on the car AFTER having another part already installed it won't actually compare properly. Great idea though, hope I'll be able to help in the near future.

Awesome idea, and good info.

Most of these exhausts will yield similar gains and a difference of say 5whp will not be noticeable.

Other than power, I'd base my decision on sound, looks and price.

BMW Killa 05-10-2009 12:16 PM

Most of them will yield the same? Nismo is netting 5, and stillen is getting 18. That's more of a difference than 5. But anyway, you buy an exhaust that gets 5 better than the rest, headers that get better, and an intake that gets 5 better, now you have 15 whp more than you might of, and you can definitely "notice" that.

Hey Frost, do you think it'd be best to put the dyno type the advertised and actual gains are based on?

frost 05-10-2009 12:21 PM

^I'll definitely put it down, if people tell me what they used

Is everyone really getting 18whp from a stillen exhaust alone? I've seen some independent dyno numbers, but would be weary of any advertised HP claim.

Not familiar with the Nismo exhaust design, but most true-dual exhausts will yield similar numbers. After accounting for dyno variance, real world performance will be similar.

Even if looking strictly at whp gains, I'd rather have a lighter exhaust that looks/sounds good over an exhaust they may yield a little more power.

I'm surprised exhaust weights are not being mentioned either.

Nice thread, i have always wanted a exhaust/intake database showing all the hp gains from different brands

Zele exhaust titanium type 2 quad tipped

Zele - FZ Titanium Exhaust, Type2, Quad Tip

Claims 13hp gain...
I also remember reading somewhere of a weight savings of 20+ pounds.
