What's with all the 370Z wannabes?

A couple more classic GT cars that share the classic shape and styling cues that Toyota is "copying":

Toyota 2000 GT (Copying themselves?)

Ferrari 365 GTB4 Daytona

TVR Griffith (Holy catfish!)

Opel GT7 (More dolphin than shark, but we didn't know the word "Tiburon" yet)

Triumph GT6

OP, the 370 is based off the 240, and the 240 is based off the porsche 911.

The Tyrrel P34 6-wheeler was revolutionary and unique... but nobody followed suit with putting one in a race and there's probably a ton of good reasons for that (other than the FIA).

The functional, aerodynamic "wedge" shape that most modern sports cars have make them look similar by default.

(I know you're kidding about a 5 wheeled sports car)

I would not call them 370 wanna bee's at all....the Scion is far lighter, emphasis is on handling not brute speed, and the price is 5-10k less, and its a 4cyl and it prolly will have 4 seats...not sure why you'd think it has much in common with a Z...6 cly 2 seater with 0-60 times around 5 seconds. It will just be a very reliable, cheap, fun, great handling car that is good on gas and very moddable.

I always thought the 240 looked a great deal like the Ferrari Daytona also.

The original 240z intentionally copied the lines of a 61 ferrari. It might've been the daytona? Whichever one ran the Le Mans that year. Can't remember which model. But I know for sure the ferrari similarity was no fluke.
