My neighbor is kind enough to give me some tips on how to wash my car

You could have corrected him instead of being passive aggressive ...

This guy takes the cake.
I used to think my neighbours who always say "You can do mine next" or "I'll bring mine right over" were the most annoying people. On that note, we probably all hear that when we're in our driveway, so try this comeback I came up with one day: "No problem! Bring it by for an estimate. Cars start at $50 and vans and SUVs are a little more depending on how dirty they are."
I have yet to have any takers... or even a response

Yea, when I owned a house (just moved into a townhouse) my neighbors always thought I was crazy for washing my cars weekly, but they also used to comment on the fact that I cut my grass weekly, trimmed my bushes monthly, and washed the house down every 6 months. I'm a clean, neat freak - I admit it.

Now in the townhouse, before water restrictions, I washed the cars weekly, and the neighbors thought I was nuts. Cleaning the Z with waterless car wash is just blowing their minds!

You have to run the brush straight down the sides, then it looks like blurring/"speed lines" when you're cruising by.

yea and what people dont understand is there is no point on hand washing a car with shitty swirled up paint. Hand washing (properly) is just to prevent swirls and cause as little damage to the paint as possible while washing, which is when most swirls/scratches are actually created. Once a car is all swirled might as well just take it to the auto car wash, because it's not going to look any better until its clayed/polished.

My dad wasn't a car guy. After my mother died way back when he bought himself a Ford Probe GT. He washed it with a scotchbrite pad to remove the florida lovebugs and wound up with a matte white car 20 years before it was popular. (I was stationed in Hawaii at the time, so I couldn't prevent him from doing it)

First off, he asks me if i wash my car everyday and i said no, i wash it once a week. Then he tells me i shouldn't wash my car that often because my paint will eventually come off

He suggests that i use those "broom looking thing to wash my car so you can save time". walks into his garage and takes out his brush to show me. Then he tells me to not use soap unless my car is super dirty or else the paint will fade as well, just use water to rinse the car clean and dry it.

well.. after hearing that i pick up my carwash soap and add almost half a bottle of solution into my soapy water and stare at him. He shuts up and walks back to his garage.
wow...
