I agree on one major thing with Zcon2011. The logistics involved in these events is an enormous undertaking. I did not attend because of limited funds this year, and next year is unlikely, since it is in Phoenix and that's too much of a drive. However, I've heard from several attendees that it offers unique opportunities and experiences. If it returns east some time soon, I may attend.

I understand there's frustration, but I agree, this could have been dealt with privately first.

I didn't mean anything bad from it man. In your FYI you say how expensive everything is. My point is, if everything is to expensive then don't give put rewards etc. He said in his comment that he shouldn't have to wait so long when he paid X amount. Youre response to that was how expensive everything was...

I am not angry at all-a little surprised with the passion in your comment you didn't at least acknowledge what I actually wrote in what you replied to it!

Did you read his comment:
"The level of professionalism and customer service necessary to make members of the Z community want to participate in this event was non-existent. When you charge people $85 for registration and $60 to enter a cash show, you should have the trophies and plagues ready. After this post, I know I will not be receiving one ever "

My point was to let him know the money he paid had nothing to do with the awards.
I would venture a guess he received his coin(pictured below) at the awards ceremony, all but a few picked them up. I also shared the information I had on the timeliness of the rest of the award going out-unfortunately it turned out to be wrong...repeatedly. He will get his award-as I said, it was never my intention to disappoint anyone-and he was awarded! This is just one of those times when the best intentions got me bitten in the *** repeatedly-and not in the I'd liked to have had repeated!

i didn't realize these trophies/"plagues" were engraved with the winners names. that's whole different animal. i could see that being a logistical nightmare. that's all and good but that sounds a little too complicated to me... or if you wanted to make nice certificates at the event, seems like someone could print them on prepared certificates just filling in their names. then the winners could have their awards before they leave instead of relying on getting them in the mail months later

But, you have a good point. I never intended for these to be so late, but for a number of reasons they are.
We handed out the coins on site-because they made it in time, but there is no way to have individually customized certificates for 140 people done in two hours even if the pre-printed certificates had been on time, and done right-they were not. I have been through three professional printing vendors since, who have told me they could do what I wanted and none has been successful. I have punted and accepted that they will not be as I intended, but they will be done as close as I can muster.
The certificates are having pictures of the awarded car printed on them. Call any awards company you want and ask them how long it will take a professional company set up for this work to produce those once they have the photos, now remember that I am one guy with a family(a working wife, a 4yr old and a 6yr old)-you saw them at the convention-a job, a mortgage and a life, most of which I put on hold to get this ready for you more than a year before the convention, and here we are a couple of months later and I still have much of my life on hold while I sew these things up. Just sayin yo

Now, back to reality, who is really getting any crap for not having their certificate? Have the police knocked on the door and threatened to cart you off because your certificate has not arrived? Are you waiting for a discount on your rent/house payment/the underware of a hot chick to melt off because you have a certificate? I guarantee that no one with any authority will come try to take your Z/fine you/beat you senseless because you don't have it yet-if they do show them the coin-they are numbered and listed to verify the award.

That said

Zdayz is an outstanding event, that is why I attend, volunteer, and support it and Brian and the entire Zdayz team whole-heartedly! But, ZdayZ is not a week long event in a different location every year, with a new team putting it on. Ask Brian about the growth and changes ZdayZ has gone through since the first one-I know he has stories-I have heard them. Comparing any Zcon to a current Zdayz is not a red Z34 to silver Z34 comparison, they are too different.

dont you dare compare a red z34 to a silver. Red is better. Although not as good as white and thats a fact... no matter what someone in a black cherry z34 says.

The coins were individually numbered-serialized(some were engraved with Z models-like the one I pictured), the certificates will have the owners name and the picture of the awarded car on them.
I had planned to take the pictures in front of a chroma screen as the cars were brought into the convention center, but a combination of circumstance prevented me from getting the chroma screen set up prior to loading up the convention center-so we had to take pictures in place, and that too has been a source of problems for the background of the certificates-Remember I am not a professional (or even an amateur) Graphics person.
